Yessir, sounds great. And I just picked up a new rig that you should take for a run. A total blast. I'll email you.

What this thread really needs is pics of a sweet S4 Avant. Those things are tits.
I wonder where we could find pics like that.
I'm kind of confused how we've gotten this far without this:

Need more space in my garage.
Goddamn that Stradale is pretty. An interesting tidbit:
Quote:
Built in an attempt by Alfa to make some of its racing technology available to the public, it was the most expensive automobile for sale to the public in 1968 at US$17,000[6] (when the average cost of a new car in 1968 was $2,822).[7] In the same year, in Italy, the retail price for a 33 Stradale was 9.750.000 lire.[8] Just to make a comparison, the Lamborghini Miura was sold for 7.700.000 lire,[9] while the average worker's wage was about 150.000 lire.[
I like the lines :)

"The Mercedes CL600 is so determined to reach the horizon when you step on its accelerator that it barely pauses for breath. Automatic gearshifts pop off one after another, but the onward rush is hardly interrupted. From the moment the car lunges away from rest with a sharp squeal of rear wheelspin until the 130-mph speed limiter gently restrains its charge, the CL rushes forward on an unstoppable tide of torque.
Passengers in the rear seat will gasp in astonishment at the sustained acceleration, and with good reason. The 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-12 produces 612 pound-feet of twist from a mere 1800 rpm and sustains that level to 3500 rpm. So each of the five gears provides relentless thrust throughout its range."
^^ I think that drivers seat probably weighs as much as some of the cars I owned 20-25 years ago.

It's faster than the speed of light.
The CL600 reminds me of a black 2 door honda accord coupe from a few years ago. Not much distinguished or unique about it, apart from the cool breeze seats.:rolleyes2
On another note, Why are all/most the euro saloons and coupes looking all the same these past few years?
I think that's actually the most beautiful thing about that car. Total sleeper.
Killer rig 4matic. Being partial to germans, I like the way bmw and audi drive better, but that thing is mean.
Shoulda just gone Maybach :)

Never understood the appeal of Porsches and those who worship them.

This. Parents traded in a 912 (I think a '73) for a bug when I came along. Dad also had a '67 GTO at one point prior to me. Then he found a nice condition '81 912 targa that he restored. Taking that sucker on a few laps up Clear Creek and down Golden Gate or vice versa was fun. Traded that for a MB SL500 (I think a late '90s model) convertible that is a fun ride too.
Back on task, I think this could supplant the Porsche (or be added to the mythical money is no object garage), especially after that recent episode of Top Gear. Pagani Huayra

Well, step one (if you get to drive one hard): tell yourself about 20 times that, kind of like a jetski, it won't turn nearly as well unless you're on the gas, and just make sure your entry speed into a corner is the slowest you will be going. If you lift, you could get in trouble, if you hit the brakes in a corner, you'll swap ends pretty quickly.
Also, as wonderful as the new ones are, to gain a full appreciation, you really should drive an air cooled model (pre '99) and a newer liquid cooled one.
For a long time my dad just had that white 88 targa, then a few years later he picked up "GORT", a silver, pristine '98 Carrera S. I got the chance to take that out on the track, HWY 9, and to prom. When he sold it, we both agreed that the 88 was more fun to drive because you didn't have to worry about it nearly as much. We ran the shit out of that thing (the 88) and it just was bulletproof, which is another reason people REALLY love porsche. NONE of the other cars that run in their category can touch their longevity or reliability.
I never really liked the 911s, except for the 993 and 997 versions.
But I want a Cayman S. Soon, hopefully.

My wish list/shopping list is a 2009 or newer Cayman S, with PDK transmission, 18" wheels, PASM (adjustable suspension), and sport chrono pkg. White or silver, black interior.
I haven't driven any with 19" wheels, but the 18" wheel version (non-PASM) drove smoothly. I expected it to be rougher -- it really wasn't.
