Coast of Maine... Air temp 42*, Sea water temp 39*. Small tide rip located 5 miles from my house... earliest kayak start ever for me... thanks Covid. Surfs up!
Best way to make sure you start early is to never stop.

And a few PFDs last month on the other coast just as things got weird.
Nice! Below the grange hall on the Sheepscot?
I've had to dodge driftwood and other various flotsam (seals usually duck) but never any ice... I'm usually still skiing in April.
Keepin it real in Maine from a few years ago...
Nice evening for some lazy soul surfing on the local glassy wave.

Couple years back in Glenwood.
Nice, when I was a kid I'd paddle my canoe to the end of the Damriscota lake and put in in the great Salt Bay to catch the reversing falls in Damriscotta, when the tide changed we'd hit the falls headed back home again. My fiberglass canoe didn't have any flotation and I think my friends were a little surprised when I'd tell them to make sure their pfd was strapped to the boat. I really didn't want to loose my boat.
Got some nice rides today in my old Wavesport X... damn I love that boat. Does so much, so well.
Back in my boat after two years off due to couple injuries.
Lower Red creek and Dry fork in the books, Shredder was especially phun today with a group of good friends. Life is good.
Not an action shot but you get the drift.

How to self shuttle in the time of Covid... add monkey bike to the mix!
I have a couple friends with groms on their trailers for shuttle duty.
saw a few beefy elec bikes for shuttle this year, not bad idea.
Some fun was had at the local Tide Rip today... old school style.
^^ Dude...You should try to sit up straight, think reverse c-curve spine angle, and keep that lead arm higher and your paddle more parallel to your boat line. Think more rudder vs. using the back of your blade, ie to much braking/drag. Your surfs will be a lot more dynamic.
Love the old school boats. You seem to have a quiver;)
Traded all my money for a boat.
Two days after I bought it I launched a 4 day San Juan trip from Sand Island to Mexican Hat

Fuck yeah! That's why I want to get into white water stuff but it's a bit intimidating, especially with a packraft
Surf season is back… nice day with the tribe.
Another day on a fast glassy wave.
I spent the first part of July teaching my teen to roll and working on some basic River skills. This past weekend we both took a swiftwater safety and rescue course. She felt good enough afterward to follow Dad down for her first Class 3 River run in her own boat. Stoked!
high five man, good work
FKNA, doing it right.
I got gifted a free squirt boat from an older paddler who hadn’t paddled it in years. He wanted it to get out on the water again. Stoked!
Another weekend on the river with my kid. So stoked that they’re really getting into it.
