Thanks. Since moving away any montana stoke is like crack.
Just here to say that it was dope today. I only got to ski in the am, but I'm not complaining. Deep in the bowls with only one core shot. Rinse and repeat tomorrow.
Hey folks!
take a look at what this fella has to say about the mag life in missoula!
Ok, is everyone in Montana a severe alchoholic or drug user? I have been here a year and EVERYONE I have met whiether it be in a church, bar, or even my kids' schools are either doing pot, meth, coke, or have to drink at least every weekend if not every night. Is there anyone out there that is not a dumb ass? Just wondering what this world has come to.........
i dont want to step on anybodies toes or anything! Sorry Rasputin!
but i just found this posted in rants and raves on craigslist.
And u thought i was bad?
Oh yeah this winter is bomber so far. Lets keep the faith, cause i almost lost mine!
West and East bowls opened, and it was good. Bomber day at the Bowl. I got there at noon and skied mostly untracked, knee to thigh deep until I left at three.
The way the wind was blowing, and the snow was falling, I expect it will fill in nicely overnight.
While I do have a camera, I prefer to foster the illusion that we're all just exaggerating and that the Bowl never gets any snow. Nothing to see here folks just move along.
I sure hope so, but the only way Brad would not do that is if indeed folks are brushing off the platform???? I don't disagree with under-reporting by employees reporting down to Mr phone sex voice. Hopefully my light duty will return to normal this winter, and I'll be able to see first hand how the reporting has changed in the past few years.:)
From last week:

report said 6". top of griz said 9". just another mid week pow day.
Nice! I am heading north to get a little Montana play time in. We are staying at a friends cabin at Ski Discovery... Hope it keeps on a nukin!
Hey freakofsnow,
Was that 18" pow shot from that storm in late february last year?
I can answer that...yes, since last time Snowbowl had a dump like that was probably in 97. Where is CountryFunk when you need him, anyways?
In other news, if any of you Missoula mags are looking for something to do tomorrow night, we're having a party. I ain't posting the address here, but shoot me a PM if you are interested, I'll send directions (it's near the Good Food Store).
^^^would love to puke on your couch, but i'll be out of town. another time.
February...March...I'm sure we are talking about the same 18" day.
It's starting to snow in town again....
a wee bit of snow coming down up lolo way..

So, I was riding the Griz chair with FOS (after the LaVelle lift was closed due to high winds), when we heard a loud crack. Then we saw a forty foot tree falling toward the lift. I said something like "Hold on tight, it's gonna hit!", and watched the tree fall on the lift cable heading downhill. The tree bounced, then was leaning/hooked on the cable, and then we went past it. FOS turned to see the oncoming chair bash into it, and then another I guess. I wasn't looking, I was quite content to hug the chair, and wait to see what happened next. The tree fell to the ground, the lift delivered everyone unscathed, and then they closed the lift.
The tree was a live one, and was about fourteen inches in diameter where the trunk snapped, about five feet above the snow. It was a bit breezy at the Bowl today. It snowed some too.
That is all.
Glad the lift survived. Here is the tree this morning (they have since cut it up and confined it to a little pen, very un-Snowbowl like).

In other news...today was one I will remember for a LOOOOOONG time. So fucking good. The best 6" I have ever had...Mrs. Rootskier, too. :fm:
http://tetongravity.com/forums/attac...4&d=1230854054
It was completely windbuffed out, and first tracks down West Bowl blew my fucking mind, easily in my top 5 runs anywhere, ever. So good, from creamy windbuff on the Ridge, off the edge to thigh deep whiteroom blower in the Bowl. So good.
The debris in the shot below is from wind blowing tree parts around...not shit sticking through. The coverage is near complete. So good. So good. Did I mention how fucking good it was today? So good.
Mrs Rootskier again.

Fuck yeah, 2009.
^^^Wow! That is better than my griz chair evac story.
Glad no one was hurt.
I also was amazed at the timely response.
I too am dumbfounded, one of the best days ever, many a seasoned Bowlhead were at a loss for words after the day. Friends who have 3000 days under their belt were saying the snow was perfect.Quote:

Cheers and happy new year fellas, and enjoy that perfect snow while it lasts.... It sure is awesome when it's perfect, eh?
Keep posting these reports, and I'm gonna drive out there and steal some of your pow!
Here's a kind of 406ish inspired reenactment of yesterdays action. Pretty sure that will be the scariest moment I will ever experience on a chairlift.

fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
my wife volunteered me and my truck to help move a bunch of shit for the poor needy children of MSO, so I left the Bowl at 12:30 in the middle of yet another FKNA day and then the people donating the shit never showed up.
Please please please let Lavelle be on wind hold the rest of the afternoon. :FIREdevil
fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
fuck fuck fuck fuck is right!
I am at an EMT refresher course all weekend! Its a white out!
Crazy sideways blizzard from the north and clear blue sky to the south right now in town. Pretty wild.
Oh and FOS, sweet drawing. I think I spotted some poo down there.
How does a tree falling on the opposite side make your chair swing? Did the whole tower start swaying? It seems like it would travel up and down the down cable more than cross over to the up side. Let's hear the full story. In any case...glad it was you, not me.
I've been keeping in eye out for your fatty bros Rootski, but I donno anyone else on here who rides the bowl, if anyone sees me in green pants, usually black jacket, rocking out with some czars, slap me upside the head
It had surprisingly little affect on our chair.
No.Quote:

LT was very sick yesterday. nuked all day long. they still can't get hollywood bowl open though.
The Bowl is lookin' good!
This will be a day to remember.
But the only thing I'll remember is how I was sitting at home icing my ACL recon that apparently can't take more than 3 hard days a week (for now).
You best be taking some pictures, its gonna be deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep and smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth!

Wow. Blue bird and BLOWER at the Bowl! Woot!
Big crowds tamping it down something fierce.
Gotta go to work now.
Pretty cool to see 15" (updated on Griz) and blue skies. It was good and all..and don't tell anyone, but the previous two days were better. By a long shot. :fm:
Plus it was a full on junkshow today.
And mtskier...if they get Hollywood Bowl open anytime this season, it will be a small miracle. With zero bombing capability, how can LT pretend that shit is safe?
I only got three shots before the camera died from cold. BUNK!!!!
