the malice and willingness to take a life is an issue. the means by which it's taken is less so.
Here's a sweet round too

.416 Barrett
The .416 Barrett is in a class by itself. The solid 395-grain machine turned solid brass boattail bullet leaves the muzzle at 3,250 fps. Sold in 80-round packs.
we have plenty of problems here in our country:
it's insulting and I'm embarrassed when our elected reps travel the world talking shit about everyone else. anybody in the world with an internet connection can see that youtube, and lots more from camden, gary, new orleans, LA, chicago, east st. louis...
any US politician who dares to talk shit about any other country ought to ride coast to coast on a greyhound bus and take a good hard look at our US of A before worrying about anywhere else.
Fully quoted to humor Jer. It seems gun owners, based on the statistics, have "the malice and willingness to take a life". Not surprising really considering the majority of toys presented in this forum are designed to take a life. Or many lives for some of the firearms. Hammers aren't nearly as good in this regard. And vehicles tend to hurt the perp during the conducting of their homicidal acts.

if the guy whos gun this is ever sees this, I'm dead from 5 miles away, with one of his wolf snipers
what can I say. a kid was beat to death with a baseball bat a few blocks away the other night. it's not the bat that did it. the problem, as I see it and IMHO, is that we're a society of angry insecure people with very little to look forward to. when a culture like ours, collectively, gets a bad case of the fuckits you better watch out. I honestly believe that if you magically removed guns (like *poof* zero guns) and nothing else, we'd still have a serious violence problem.
from a report on the rwanda genocide:
Quote:
The killing was well organized.[10] By the time the killing started, the militia in Rwanda was 30,000 strong — one militia member for every ten families — and organized nationwide, with representatives in every neighborhood. Some militia members were able to acquire AK-47 assault rifles by completing requisition forms. Other weapons, such as grenades, required no paperwork and were widely distributed. Many members of the Interahamwe and Impuzamugambi were armed only with machetes, but these were some of the most effective killers.[
Hey FuckeeLocal - this is a gun STOKE thread, not an opportunity for you to show everyone how enlightened you are from atop your soap box. Why don't you go cunt up one of Trackheads TRs by talking about how many people needlessly die in avalanche fatalities. Or maybe go upstairs and ask your mom to make you some tatter-totts.
back to the stoke :D
Are you the board moderator ? For some of us this is a firearm terror thread. It's truely scarey that this level of arms are out there in the hands of the great unwashed skiing community. And not a single gun lock in sight I choose to engage with facts and you respond with emotion. Meanwhile 206 blunt force homicides in 2005, less than 40 vehicle homicides, over 12,000 firearm homicides.

Best I can get now with the new MG ban in effect.
Some people need to stop shitting on a stoke thread. Summer is coming, and shooting outside is more pleasant. So people are stoked. You want to handwring, go somewhere else.
Can we get back to stoke and not turn this into a gun argument like all the other threads? Just a couple from my quiver, sorry I don't have picks:
Ruger Super Blackhawk - 44 magnum
Remington Model 700bdl - 7mm ultra mag
Kimber 1911 tactical Model - 45 ACP
I must say I love all three of those and they are my 3 favorites from the collection, along with my bow. Somehow I got lucky enough to get three tack drivers with these three.
edit: never mind. bring on the stoke
LOL--chicks with guns--not so much a turn on.
Our Barret .50 Cal out at the lodge...

:eek::eek:WOW.....:eek::eek:
Now I am all about my name.
You guys go heli-ski
I'll help with sighting in the big bore:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
Thanks...you know it does kick pretty hard, but I was sighting in a Model 700 30-06 that had no kick pad, just a thin piece of plastic on the butt, and it did more damage to my shoulder than the ultra mag.
The other thing about the RUM is it really is just a hunting rifle. If you tried using it for weekend target practice, you would be going through barrels pretty fast. I mean the muzzle velocity is like 3,400 FPS with a 140 grain bullet. She is a barrel burner!
She shoots damn flat though and I consistently shot touching pairs at 250 yards the last two years when I was getting her ready for hunting season. It has been shooting dead on with NO movement both years, which is pretty impressive for a walnut stock, IMO.
It is just a great hunting rifle...and it will only start making you sore after about 20 rounds in a row. I would however, not suggest it for a flincher. It is a shame the round is not more popular with hunters...that gun will drop any North American big game at long distances.

One typically does not place gun locks on self defense weapons (the handguns and shotguns in this thread). One also typically photographs one's firearms during shooting, pre-shooting, or cleaning. All situations when guns wouldn't be locked. There are also a few photos in here of hard sided rifle cases, which lock.
I'm gonna go take some pics of my ski quiver. But first I'm gonna put 'em in bags with a locked Ski-Tote so nobody accidentally skis them.
