Damn I wish I could hit the Beav on Monday. Maybe it'll still be good on Tuesday. :)

We are headed to Denver for a HUDGE NYE party. We have to pick up the in-laws at DIA on Tuesday morning, drive them to Laramie, then drive back to Vail. Thus I am sure it will be a mega epic snow day and shitty driving conditions on Tuesday.
looks like the 2-4 tonight is too much, tomorrow and tomorrow night should be the event. Accumulation predictions appear to be all over the place, I've seen anywhere from 1 to 14! Who knows?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Looking good for this weekend ... enough so that I won't be going to Vegas any more.
If I already didn't do a 10-hour drive this past weekend, I might be tempted to go back to Silverton where it should be $$$.
System looks somewhat similar to events at the beginning of December though I think that the SW mtns will get the brunt of the snow at least until Sunday when a more unstable airmass moves over.
Both the 12z and 00z GFS QPF forecasts were impressive with over two inches of water for most of the western slope.
12z now has close to four inches of preciptable water for the western slope through tuesday.
mmmmmmmmm
The forecast for Wolf Creek doesn't look half bad. I hope the Summit/Eagle forecasts are somewhere near that.
warning, warning, warning, warning
looks like a good weekend.
Hey Rontele-
No mention of rain in the forecast discussion, but 40 degrees tomorrow in Vail seems warm. Will this start as a brief rain event then turn to snow later in the day? Gonna be on like Donkey Kong this weekend!!!
no, shouldn't rain with it being 40 degrees. once the system actually pushes over vail it will be falling as snow and won't warm up enough to make it melt as is it falls. and, the falling snow will make the temps drop so that 40 degrees won't be around long......i hope.
The storm warning is for 1-2 feet through 6PM Sunday, but the highest % chance of snow is actually on Monday.:D
If the flow is more southwesterly, as you know, the Aspen area gets shadowed pretty hard by the W. Elks. But looking at the models, the flow looks a tad more WSW (like the early Dec. events). Monday has the highest percentage, imho, because by then both cold fronts would have moved through and the flow will be a more true west/northwest.
There is going to be so much moisture that even in a SW flow, it will overrun the W. Elks. Should be a good wkend.
.A POWERFUL WINTER STORM WILL MOVE INTO NORTHEAST UTAH AND WESTERN COLORADO. MOUNTAIN WINDS WILL BECOME VERY STRONG TONIGHT BUT HEAVIER SNOWFALL WILL BEGIN ON SATURDAY. FROM INTERSTATE-70 NORTHWARD...A COLD FRONT WILL BRING PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. SOUTH OF INTERSTATE-70 STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL BRING PROLONGED PERIODS OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. A FINAL STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP THROUGH THE REGION ON MONDAY WITH SNOW FINALLY DIMINISHING BEHIND IT. BY MONDAY NIGHT MOUNTAINS CAN EXPECT 2 TO 3 FEET OF SNOW...WITH SIGNIFICANT SNOW IN THE
VALLEYS.
Allright weather nerds, should I stick to my original roadtrip destination of Monarch this weekend or spend the extra drive time, lift ticket $$$$, and goodwill points with the wife to go to CB? What's a front ranger to do?
Echo Park fo sho.
Sweet. What site is this from?Quote:

still some doubt about when and where, etc....but this thing appears to be the real deal. Fingers crossed.
Raining at the base here again, just like in early December. Hopefully, it will be the same as those storms.
Fucking clear skies in Breck this morning. Where the fuck is this thing?
Not that I'm worried ... still looks good, but was hoping for some morning juice.
tomorrow will be the day, now should start this afternoon, then tonight. Snow Levels around 8500 feet, gonna be warm today. Big time leg burning cement when it does come.
may ski the Beav tomorrow, depends on how much and where the snow falls.
was absolutely puking on the hill today. Down in town not much is going on at all, a snow shower here and there and that is about it. If it keeps snowing like it was all night, tomorrow is gonna be good. VERY dense snow. Come on ULLR, bring it.
This is a very impressive storm. Schofield has received nearly 40inches of snow since Friday.
Things look to wrapping up by tomorrow night with another 1-3 feet expected in the western mountains. unreal.
and I expect montanaskier to chime in with some super butt hurtness shortly.
I don't think I can even be butt hurt by this storm. It was real quiet from about 1pm til 10pm yesterday. Started snowing around 10 and we woke up to about 6". Hit the Beav today with Smmokan. Absolutely puked snow all day. The trees were ridunkulous. The drive home to Vail from the Beav was retarded, no vis at all. Currently quiet but more to come, most impressive storm.
Those Silverton pics are stupid.
Just wanted to add that as bad as Nov. was, the pattern we have been in since is remarkable. The rest of this week looks strong, keep it up Ullr.
Does 8 miles SSW of Eagle-Vail = top of Grouse Mountain at 11,418 ft?
If so, what does? And/or what are the GPS coordinates?
Either way, this looks good except that I can't take off this Thursday or Friday. :(
