Did have a chance to take a close look at those plastics that they used? IF you get a chance and can look at some of the broken plastic check it out. It reminds me of the kind of stuff that when cold has no slight flex or give and instead just shatters. looks cheap!

I now have about 25 days on the Z-12 ti bindings, mounted on 179 BRO's. No problems no complaints. I don't ski like Ron (ETAL) but my confidence is nnow shot to shit!

They changed the toepiece a year before they changed the heel. Here is a picture of the PX toe:

see i find this interesting. i've got 2 pairs of look p12's that are definitely plastic/composite housing, and 2 pairs of rossi 'power' one 110 and one 140 that are definitely metal housing (both toe and heel). so in the older, discontinued p/axial series, rossi tended to have more metal, but this time around in the px/axial2 series, it's the looks have that have gotten more metal?

I have Z12s on my PEs, and they have held up OK over about 15 days of hard skiing. I like the light weight, but they are really cheesy feeling in construction, especially the plastic chrome on the toe piece. It is somewhat misleading though, as that chrome plastic is merely a thin shell over the guts. The cast base and internals of the toe piece are pretty solid from what I can tell.

Most of the heel piece is similar in design/construction to other Solly DIN 12 bindings (with the exception of lighter metals), but I agree that the track and plastic base is definitely a weak spot and am not surprised that's where people are seeing failures. I am going to keep a closer eye on these next season.

your skis felt solid and never had any complaint about those bindings.

probably wouldnt buy them though...

my question is how do you guys run DINS of 7.5 and such. I know I am far from that aggresive and need at least 10+ to stay in my skis.

If you're short and have big feet, you can get away with lower DIN. If you're tall with little feet... it's the opposite.
