I don't know. Walk around those canals (Kaisergracht, Herrengracht, Prinzengracht, etc) anytime, anyday, their always pretty clean. I have been there over 20X, winter, spring, summer and fall. Once you get away from the city center (train station, Dam, red light district)...it's pretty clean and safe for such a cool city.
This data suggest that Seattle get's 0.8 inches less annualy. So basically the same. Vancouver: 37 inches Seattle: 36.2

Really? It's a cool area and I love NZ but the city of Christchurch seemed just allright to me. I spent a week there and was ready to leave.
Under 1,000,000:
USA: Park City: Mountains; outdoor activities; people; access to best skiing in the world
Europe: Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Mountains; surroundings; natural beauty; bier; better 4 season vibe than other european ski areas.
SLC, Denver, or Seattle
^also i like colorado springs
I'm really surprised no one has said Summit yet, cuz it sure seems like a city to me anymore ('cept during mud season).
Vancouver, B.C. because that's my hometown and there's no other CITY I would care to live in.
anchorage duh
Short list, in order of preference-
(not much of a city person, but if I have to, and I currently do...)
1. Seattle
2. SLC or Reno (though they are more like big suburbs)
3. SF, Denver, or Vancouver BC
4. Calgary
Seatle
SLC
Or Denver (cause of the 14ers)
Canadian women are hotter than american women in general. They just seem to take better care of themselves.
burlington VT : hip and progressive small city, close to MRG, Stowe and Jay...and it in VT!
others: Portland OR, San Francisco...wanna check out Vancouver, but visa issues as mentioned above
Munich, Germany
Washington, DC
Seattle, WA
Vancouver, BC
San Diego, CA
Munich beats the shit out of Vienna, then sleeps with its wife. Vienna is old and boring, as are its inhabitants. Munich is younger, more vibrant, has better beer, and is MUCH closer to the good skiing in Tirol/Vorarlberg/Suisse as well.
The only Tuscan "cities" are Florence and Siena. Honestly I'd rather stab myself in the eye than live in either one, but I just don't like the whole Italian machismo scene. Bologna is a cool city of similar size very close to great skiing. Venice really isn't very big, it's crumbling and expensive, and most importantly is under water a couple times a year.Quote:
somewhere in Tuscany (Italy of course) - I love Italy as a whole but Tuscany is amazing and it's in the middle so you can access Rome, or go north for the goodness of Venice + skiing further north
As much as I enjoy visiting NYC I like leaving almost as much - waaaaay too much angst. I have all the benefits of Manhattan here in Washington, just in more manageable (and greener) surroundings. Art, Music, Theater, Food - you name it. Is there more of it in NYC? Sure. However, since I don't have enough time to do everything offered here, I wouldn't be doing any "more" in Manhattan, and what I WAS able to do would cost 2x as much.
I also live in the city in a single family home. To have the same in NYC I would need to win the lottery.
Are the Girlz in Vancuver as ugly and plentyful as the ones in the PNW?
serious question!
Vancouver actually beats out NYC in terms of per capita hotness. Although there still are some hippies
Per capita Hotness in North America is owned by Montreal. Lock, Stock, and Barrell.
This fact is incontrovertable. Yes there are some hot fucking women in NYC, but it is a town of 10M.... Percentage-wise I have never seen anything like Montreal.
To each his own, never been to Munich but have been to other parts of Germany and I'll take Vienna over all of them. I guess the "oldness" is what I like. As far as Italy goes, probably my favorite country. I'd live in Firenze or Siena in a heartbeat, Venice is cool to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. I'd rather stab myself in both eyes then live in Washington DC so I guess we'll agree to disagree...Quote:

The reason I suggest NY for skiers is because with 3 major airports accessible within an hour you can have options.
Options like:
- a career that pays you more than simply a decent wage
- beautiful housing from cutting edge modern to pre war to 150+ yo historic buildings with original details
- availability of virtually anything you are interested in - culture, food, music, people...
- enough competition between merchants to easily live "high" or "low" with excellent quality whether your budget is beer or champagne.
- cheap flights to take you anywhere so it's not hard to get in 60 - 100 days ski days annually... at any place you desire... on the powder days
But maybe I should keep this secret to myself.
I would agree with this if only Montreal had a slightly more diverse populace. As stated before, part of the allure of NYC hotness is getting the full spectrum.
<and I recall San Diego having some nice vistas as well... but I haven't been there as often as Mount Royal and New Amsterdam>
After spending the last two weeks in Vancouver BC, Screw this place. It blows. It rains constantly and there is not much to do (With a wife and kid with you). So my vote is for Santa Barbara, Ca. Nice weather year round, the Beach, the Mountains, and El Sito. Need I say more?
