Or Sepp attacking on the decent. With Vingo and Landa in the group they might not get caught.

Just turning things on, I need a recap
I see 5 JV riders driving at the front
[eta]oof, evenepoel at 5:25 back & still a whole other peak to conquer
Is Vingegaard going to use this seemingly sensible team move to put himself atop the podium?
I’d really like to see Kuss keep the leader’s jersey all the way to the end (maybe mitigating the delta loss)
Now Mas swings off & Kuss free to climb for himself
Wow, we have some drama
[eta]aaand, back together
Will Roglic pass Ayuso?
[eta] a burst from Kuss at 1km to go
& roglic with a burst too
1,2,3 for JV?
WOW!
For the sake of cycling in the US, I really hope that Sepp is clean.
LAME! I get it: Pro Cyclist...but, generally, the rule is: unless you have something, accusations and innuendo are off limits.
I've never even heard a whisper in the press or cycling circles that Sepp is doping. If you have something, throw it out there. Otherwise: LAME!!!!
He came across line smiling while everyone else looked completely wrecked.

Great stage. Wouldve been a fun one to watch live but i refuse to purchase flobikes. jv going 1-2-3 makes it alot less interesting for upcoming stages tho. and wow what an implosion by remco.

Plenty of good racing left to be had. I expect TJV will again ride everyone else into the ground tomorrow, just to prove they can. Sorta reminiscent of Team Sky.
After that I Expect more breaks staying out. At this point the pressure is on UAE to protect their top ten.
I feel bad for Evenepoel. But not enough to keep him on my fantasy team…
I swapped him too, but look at him go!
I didn’t expect him to come back like today. Shoulda waited to trade him
Holy shit, Le Vuelta has been amazing this year.
Remco’s emotions after the stage today were intense.
What a race! So much romance!

What in the actual hell was that today?
That was the warmup for the next two days
Expect Evenepoel to go out strong at the jump tomorrow
Jonas is becoming an antagonist and I'm kinda here for it
Guessing TJV’s plan at the base of climb was for Vingo to jump, and UAE, Bahrain and Mas would follow and tow Roglic and Kuss with them.
Except Ayuso, Mas, Landa and Almeida either lacked the legs or the willingness to chase.
Tomorrow will be chaos, particularly if it’s wet.
Will Evenepoel will go with the break, or stay back and race with the contenders up Angrilu?
I cannot believe Vingo attacked so hard, even after the others didn’t follow. TJV is cannibalizing each other.
I think it was less Vingo going so hard, and more like every other contender took a look at that acceleration and said “fuck it see ya tomorrow”.
Remember Vingo won by 40 sec over a kid in his first grand tour. A kid who was supposed to tow Ayuso &Almeida up the hill. Gaining 10 sec per km on that climb over a rookie domestique is not huge. The rest of the contenders came in 20+ sec after that.
And you’ll have to explain how TJV is cannibalizing itself. They’re still 1-2-3 and the next three didn’t gain more than a few seconds on Kuss.
When you’re only taking time out of your own teammate(s), that is kinda cannibalizing, no?
Kuss is going to have to do more than just try to outlast the gc contenders. He needs to create some additional space, if he can.
(ie, as leaders, Vingegaard & Pogacar would assert themselves and grab seconds at every opportunity)
Is it? Does Kuss expect Vingagaard and Roglic to hold back? I don’t think so. Esp when their stated goal was the top Team award.
The only other explanation I can think of other than Vingo being a bit of a duck faced sociopath, is that TJV was trying to preempt attacks from the other GC contenders and this could be the last we’ll see of Vingo taking time out of Sepp. But ultimately I think Vingo is just a sociopath, which is one of the reasons why he’s a successful professional cyclist.
I would love to hear the TJV race radio.
I was yelling at the TV this morning (from Durango - hopes are high here). It was disturbing to see Vingo stay on the rivet until 25m, would have been classy to sit up with about 500m to go… GC damage mitigated, less confusion and drama, and he still gets the stage win.
Jonny Long had a good piece on Escape Collective about today.

Did you think Vingo came to La Vuelta to win GC, or to ride support for someone else?
Remember, the team DS gave him the green light to attack.
Pretty sure the plan at TJV is the team will deliver those three to the last climb in good order, then let the best man win.
