I did the same thing, and eventually realized that the mm measurements on the Kingpin paper template aren't accurate unless you're also using the Kingpin heel paper template. I ended up doing the following:

1. Position the Jester heel template on the midpoint for your BSL
2. Position the Kinping toe template on the midpoint for the needed BSL
3. Using a ruler, move the kingpin template 50mm forward

This worked perfectly for getting the boot centerpoint directly at the ski midpoint. Thanks to everyone in this thread for the invaluable information!

Maybe my heel template was a bit off, but I did notice that this mounting position only put the heel piece about 1/3 of the way down the base plate worm drive. I'd have preferred it closer to the midpoint, but definitely not a big deal - the heel adjustment range on this binding is surprisingly long.

For future reference, I was remounting on a ski that had Salomon Warden MNC 13's on them previously. Worked fine without making too many changes to the above stated mounting strategy.

In other news, I just had to take these off the sticks after the toe-adjustment lever snapped off while skinning during their first tour. :cussing:

Since it concerns mounting, check to see how your boot fits in the heel when adjusting.

My 26.5 ZeroG Tours require the AFD all the way down, which results in the brake pedal propping up the heel so that the dildo can't fully clamp down. It's a little better when you turn up the DIN (because it squishes the rubber a bit), but at 4 there's quite a gap between the boot heel and the heel platform, and it's a mushy connection. Someone with a short BSL running a low DIN could really have issues. The fix is to grind down the rubber on the boot heel at the leading edge.

So i need a theory questioned / answered based upon this and what ive just saw at home. I own a Jester Jig. Backplate is identical and to my eyes the first lower 2 holes of the front piece as well. Only the upper two holes are further away compared to the jester toe piece.

This would mean, i could use the Jester Jig for 6 Holes (heel plate and the 2x toe-piece bottom row screws) to drill holes. Lay and match the Duke PT front piece with the bottom row 2 screw holes with its own bottom row holes, and then just mark the upper row holes with a marker through the Duke PT front row holes and drill them like that to finish it ? right ?

the back plate of the jester jig is correct. But I am almost positive that the front holes are off by 2mm. The kingpin jig toe is the one to use. I can line up the toe holes on the king pin and the jester jig when I get home. But I just mounted a pt using the two jigs two nights ago and remember looking down the king pin holes and seeing the jester holes from my old mount close but not close enough


edit: 36 on jesters and 38 on kingpins

Could anyone explain why you move the toepiece 50mm forward? I can't understand why it wouldn't be 46. I've just taped up the paper templates on the skis and will drill tomorrow or the day after

If it helps anyone, the DukePT toe pattern is 46.08mm long x 37.8mm wide, and Jester/Griffon pattern is 31mm long x 36mm wide. For a given midsole, that puts front DukePT toe holes 34.58mm forward of front Jester/Griffon toe holes, and rear DukePT toe holes are 19.5mm forward of the rear Jester/Griffon toe holes.

I’ve had no problems. I spray mine with cooking spray every once in a while. No idea if it helps or not but makes me feel better…

I haven’t toured much on my two Duke PT 16s setups.

I can attest that they ski great. And they look/feel stronger and more durable than Shifts. Though I never had an issue with Shifts. Just prefer Duke PT for inbounds. One is on a pair of 184 4FRNT Ravens and one on a 185 Season Pass. It’s funny how much I like the Ravens as an inbounds ski.

it’s a marker royal heel on the line. So print that template. And then it’s a kingpin toe. The kingpin toe is 46mm more forward though. So if you are a 300bsl, set the toe template on the ski for a 346bsl.

ya. My bad. I just marked a 46mm line on my jig. So I just use that. And I smoke too much weed sometimes

could be!! 😂. Now that I think about it, jigs dont go that big which is why I marked a line 45mm behind the normal center line for the kingpin jig.

I almost bought the Duke pt jig but I can’t justify the price they want for it.

I bought the Duke PT jig and it works great. No stress.

Considering replacing an older non-EPF Baron small with these for a 320 BSL, looking at the hole pattern on the Binding Comparison PDF template and since there is no PT on there used the Griffon Heel holes and the Kingpin for the toes. Heels look like they will work perfectly, plenty of space. Toes unfortunately the front holes of the kingpins, so effectively the rear holes of the PT, sit at the exact same fore aft length position as the Barons are, but the width is a little less than a mm wider at each hole on the PT /kingpin than the Baron. Any idea how to proceed here? IS there any chance of reusing those holes or no way the screw would work there. Really unfortunate that its so close but ultimately off by less than a mm

You could try drilling them out and helicoiling or using inserts, but i’d be worried about them pulling off center into the old holes. Might still be an option though

I would reuse the holes at 1mm difference. There’s at least that much margin of error just drilling the holes. You probably won’t die.
