Perhaps a local gang of ant lions??
Just be careful of typos in her obit when she dies.

Coffee seems to have mixed reviews. But boiling water works for sure to kill some and discourage an entrance in a certain spot. So I'm running another pot of water through my coffee after I'm done and dumping on the hills closer to the house. Might not win the wars, but obliterating them in small battles.
What non intended targets would a borax/sugar bait harm out in the yard?
Not ant related, but insect.,
How do you figure these sticky traps get both such good and bad reviews?

There's a bunch of really good and really bad reviews. Maybe the bait is specific to some species...
We use Ortho fire ant killer for those bastards.. Put a cup of pellets on the mound, pour a gallon of water on it and it's gone then next day.. However, usually another one pops up 50 feet away from the last one we nuked so it takes awhile to get them all.

Is this tech talk?
There is no bait, you just put them where bugs are. Apparently from the reviews some spiders can walk right across the sticky surface, that's the main thing people complained about. That and catching nothing. But I bet they weren't placed well in many of those cases.
Oh, weird, good to know. I guess it would work better if you put a drop of honey in the middle and catch a fly first...
I’ve been battling ants in our backyard since we bought the house. Some summers are better than others, but this is a bad one. We’ve got three large hills in the grass, and two of them have survived for several years. Can’t use poison, since we have a dog, and multiple applications of DE haven’t worked.
Oh, and parking the lawn mower on top of them while it’s running(while in theory is a great idea) doesn’t work either.
Borax/sugar/water is next I think.

I've read mixed reviews about coffee grounds some saying completely useless some saying it works. I dumped a bunch on a few anthills closer to the house and they are not thrilled. Might be worth a shot.
Also, not sure where to put this, I don't know if we have an insect specific thread, but this is a very helpful site, although riddled with click bait.
I identified a few things out in my garden with a few minutes of searching.
Just gives basic info, but if you have the name, then you can search more.
Fortunately, I don't have these guys:

Melted aluminum seems to work.

Could be your side business.
Some of the Texas boys I worked with recommended Terro for an ant problem I had. The bait traps for indoor use are awesome as they actually work in a few days it takes for the ant conga line to bring the bait to the nest. Terro makes an outdoor spray which I have never used or even seen for sale.
came to see what the gang had to say about this topic, as my main saturday chore today is to kill some MF ants in my yard.
they've invaded a shrub outside my gated garden zone, but I expect them to move on my garden area at any moment bc we also store our wood pile there too
haha
ants are the worst
Let’s get ready to rumble
What does Sun Tzu say on the subject?
'The whole secret lies in confusing the enemy, so that he cannot fathom our real intent.' ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Few maggots might achieve this just by their normal behaviour (looking at you, MTT & fastfred Et Al..), the rest might need to self-medicate themselves a bit.
Of course the other option is 'To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.'
Albeit, going that route might increase the traffic in the Tammy Wynette Divorce thread...
Oh well.

Maybe try diatomaceous earth? Cheap and relatively harmless to anything besides bugs.
