A Northeast storm will intensify into a bomb cyclone, forecasters say
CNN)A potential bomb cyclone is quickly taking shape along the eastern seaboard and is getting ready to wallop the Northeast. The storm is expected to begin rapidly intensifying later Wednesday morning.
The pressure of the system could drop more than 30 millibars in 24 hours -- making this a bomb cyclone, the National Weather Service in Boston said Wednesday.
"The system will have the equivalent low pressure of a Category 1 hurricane," said CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen.
Generally, a bomb cyclone is defined by a pressure drop of 24 millibars (a unit of pressure) within 24 hours.

It’s getting windy.
24 beers in a case.
24 millibars in 24 hours
That not a coincidence.
.55" of rain, wind is a steady 5mph with gusts to 9 or 10, it varies between heavy leaf fall and moderate rain. All in all it's a pretty terrible storm here.
Bomb cyclone - meh just a fast-moving Nawtheastah, in and out by dawn (No it's NOT "Nor'easter" either)

Thought I felt my ears pop....
The real cyclone will be thousands of central Americans blowing leaves when this passes. Wet leaves.
Still not much wind but 1.7" of rain so far. This is the most rain I've had in one storm since mid June.
Only got a bit of wet slop that is gone now.
Lot of leaves down but not all.
Super windy still.
3.15", biggest rain since late spring! The wind wasn't too bad by me but some places are getting smacked around. 60+ along most of the shore areas and I saw a 103 gust on Cape Cod with high 70's and 80's common.
Hey who's in or just north of the Albany metro zone? Radam maybe? They've been getting drenched and blown around pretty bad since about 4am.
We got a lot of rain in a short period...but it was followed by a Bombo of wind. I was a bit worried about a tree falling on my car.
OK it wasn't a nawtheastah but a sou'westah. Still fast moving, lotsa wind damage about as well.
Pretty chill here east of the greens in central VT. 2 5/8" of rain hasn't topped the 3 1/4" that fell on the 6th. Winds are calm here with some leaf loss but no power outages. West side has taken the wind hit and downed power lines. Waiting for the backside return this afternoon/evening.
The waves at the beach were fun to watch but that's about it
Dammit, every time I see the word "bombogenesis" I get the song "Nemesis" stuck in my head!

That's kinda random.
Did you listen to the chorus:
"Big black nemesis, parthenogenesis"
I will admit that I did not.
