Best wiper blades?

Like I said, you are doing it wrong. I just installed my second set of blade (plus the OEM blades) in my 9 year old Audi, so about 4.5 years per set. Granted I don't do a lot of snow driving, but they re subject to soCal heat and smog which is worse. Keep your windshield clean and waxed, and you hardly ever need to use wipers which means they don't wear out very fast. I pretty much only use wipers if I am going below 20 mph. Anything faster and there is no water or snow on the windshield to need wipers.

Our Costcos out here carry the Goodyear springless curved blade model for $8. In fact, just before the rainy season, IIRC, they were twofers. I've not found any substantial difference among the springless models. The earlier ones (when they started out a couple of years ago) seemed to be more vulnerable to ice scrapers knocking off the tips that hold the blade to the plastic backbone.

I've also had success in the past with the booted spring models from ANCO and such. But I've found that the boots are vulnerable to ice scrapers too. And they're pricey compared to the springless models.

So these days, I've got the Goodyear springless on all my vehicles for which Costco carries the right size, and other springless models for those that don't.

That's what I bought, on the recommendation of the douche at the auto parts store. Mistake. They are garbage. Will be replacing with something different as soon as I get around to it.

Use only snow blades in winter - Michelin Stealth working great so far. Change them when snow tires come off . . . hate the heavy cover on the blade after the winter/spring weather. Use regular Michelin during spring/summer/fall.

Who needs to worry about wiper blades when these squeegee kids are everywhere !

FWIW, I think you'd feel differently if you were driving over Berthoud Pass in a storm that's dumping 2-3 inches/hour...OEM wipers (at least the one's I've had) will not cut it.

It's probably been said 10x in 3 pages, but I use the Bosch blades and really like them. The winter version with the arm wrapped in rubber for the winter.

I'm a little crazy about it (then again, I like to see when I drive and blades don't cost very much) but I change mine twice a year. I put on a new set of winter wipers on before winter, then toss em and put on regular blades in the spring.

You can go at least 1-2" longer on the rear blade for your allroad to get better wiper coverage on the rear window.

I always screwed up my blades when I accidently leave them in the on position and then when I start the car they try to move while frozen in place. What is the best blade for absent-mindedness?
I just put on some cheap Trico winter blades. They have that ugly whitish film on the thick blade, but they'll be cheap to replace. :o

I have to agree, I ran one pair for 6 years, wipe them with a little silicon lube twice a year. I drove nasty winters and hot summers with them too.

Meh. In my experience no different than any others. I got some Costco Goodyear's for $7.99 each. I might try the rain x ones one day. The rain x washer fluid is the bomb. Orange shit.

Have good experience with Bosch Ikons

I had heard good reviews of the newer style all plastic/rubber with no metal parts that would freeze. I bought a few pairs over the last couple years for two trucks and had a few that would snap under load, and then no longer maintain contact with the windshield. When the ice would melt, they still wipe fine, but after they bent backwards they were done for clearing ice the builds up while driving. .
Those were all Duralast aka autozone house brand.

Went to orielly today and they had 5 different versions of bosch along with some others, figured I might as well get the Winter Exteeeeme. $17 each. We'll see.

I've been using the flexible blade type ones for awhile and like them. Think the autozone duralast max ones are my favorite since they are a little cheaper than rain-x and bosch icons and work just as well.

Did not realize my wholesale distributors carried the piaa wipers until I read this and went and checked. Guess I'll throw a set into an order sometime and try them out.

Any downside to the alcohol I'm adding to my shitty California wiper fluid (best you can legally buy is 20 above rated). Keep in mind I'm driving a 2005 Forester that never gets washed, not a 2016 Audi that gets detailed every week.

RainX your windshield and buy whatever the fuck blades you want.
I buy a new set of cheap blades before winter, they last until next winter. Adding alcohol will be fine.

man....you are living in a very different world. I'm not saying it isn't true for you there, but over here in slushland the water is coming with sand and salt and you aren't keeping shit clean and waxed if you drive it on the highway. The whole idea of that is laughable to me.

Agreed. Winter here means using washer fluid every 10 minutes just to be able to see.

Word. OG, dunno what you're talking about because I've still been easily able to find -20 in Truckee and/or Rowena in Colfax. I swear Mountain Hardware has it...

Also, the Costco Goodyears are hot garbage that wear way too fast. Tried multiple pairs on two different vehicles. They suck.
