because an informed electorate demands more of it's politicians. As it stands now Bush doesn't have to tell us what he really means when he says " ownership society " because we don't ask him. Kerry doesn't have to explain his plan for Iraq because not enough people are paying attention.

I agree but while the rest of us are voting I'd prefer they attend another monster truck rally.

Seeing we're stuck at about 60% voter turnout (in a GOOD year! :eek: ) I think you don't need to worry about the apathetic ones.

The lack of people voting in this country is frightening. It's also hurting the Democrats more than the Republicans, supposedly. More so, if you're in the center politically, like myself: Right to chose: yes, Death penalty: yes) you're part of the vast majority of voting eligible citizens of the US, but we comp[rise the largest chunk of the slackers come election day.

This was told to me TODAY in an interview with a very smart dude at the HERITAGE foundation - not exactly my peeps, if you know what I mean (I know Mr. Gyptian does...) If the Right Wing is aware of this large bloc of people who would go against most of their agenda, you can bet they'll do anything in their power to keep turnout LOW on 11/2/04.

Here's the strategy for whoever wants to win this election: get 20% of the people who usually can't be bothered to vote to get off their ass in November and you'll win. It really is that simple - it worked for Clinton against Dole. Blew him outta the water.

Ahh... So you wish to use disenfranchisement as a political tool as well... You are doing the same thing everyone else is: trying to manipulate the electorate in order to see your views (in this case, the presidential election,) advanced. Look man, put the election aside and consider the overall precident. Also, remember that any weapon used by the left, and just as easily be deployed by the right.

Besides, as a supporter of the left, you should consider the point Tippster makes: historically the left wins when more people vote, not less.

Also, in the case of the presidental race, you can rest easy that your vote doesn't count anyways, unless you happen to be a member of the electoral college.
