Disregard this guy. The trails are open to motos, and that is why they are so nice, with burmmed corners. These trails are all set at a nice gradient and motos seldom have to spin their tires. A few muddy areas have some braiding. I hope you yielded to the uphill vehicles. I ride motos and mountain bikes, and I do not get why so many mountain bikers have this elitist attitude. I take asshole-ish behavior as an individual trait and do not assume everyone in any given group is an ass.

Edit time: Crinkle was right if he was referring to motos going up the switch back section out of Cement Creek. Totally uncool. I was thinking of the other side. My bad.

This can be true. The trails in that area are awesome for both because of the low gradient. Motos also have made many of the trails that bikers enjoy.

I understand a dislike of loud machines. Mine has a Q series(quiet) with an additional muffler after that. I even get attitude from some bikers coasting down moto-legal trails with my bike off, and riding courteously.

Edit. We even get attitude from some bikers riding out at Rabbit Valley on the Moto trails there. Mountain bikes are very much the newcomers out there, yet some bikers cannot return a friendly wave or say hello. To these riders I would suggest staying off the shared trails if they cannot deal with multi use. End rant.

Don't motos have to yield to mountain bikers? And you mean the person going downhill has to yield to the person going uphill, correct?

Motos and bikes are both vehicles and the one going uphill has right of way. Both types of vehicles yield to horses and pedistrians, but as it works out most hikers voluntarily step out of the way. Sometimes a militant hiker will make you wait a distance before a pass is possible.

inbound this weekend I think. Had planned on Fruita for the 12 year anniversary but 70 in CB sounds better than 96 in Fruita. Will be camping somewhere in the area to be determined. Not a good rider personally but the wife is solid (at least I think so). Looking for smooth, buff, and flow.

I think I'm gonna be in town next week for few days. Anyone interested in a longish ride one day? Will probably have a shuttle driver

just got back from CB. Rode 401 on Saturday. Started riding at 7:30, a toasty 37 degrees climb to the pass. Saw ZERO cars and ZERO riders the entire trip. Even on a Saturday if you start early you can avoid the crowds. When we got done, our only car in the lot was joined byt probably 40 cars! Rode upper/lower/gunsight(?) on Sunday before heading home. Enjoyed beers with SquirrelMurphy and WanderingNotLost....good times!

Altachic and I will be arriving Tuesday 7/21 and leaving Sunday 7/26, first time in CB. After reading through this thread, some others and the 14erskiers guide I'm thinking of the following schedule:

Wed: 401
Thur: Teocalli
Fri: Green Lake in the morning, ride free lifts at CBMR in the evening
Sat: Reno/Flag/Bear/Doctor's Park

Any thoughts? Should we switch up the Teocalli and Reno/Flag/Bear/Doctor's days? My thought was that Reno/Flag/Bear/Doctor's would be an awesome finale, but maybe we should do it when we're fresher? Are there shuttle services for Reno/Flag/Bear/Doctor's, or do you need to be able to self-shuttle?

Already bought the Lat 40 map.

Lifts aren't free anymore, but its only like $7/person and that gets you a beer at the base area bar as well. The trails on the mountain are fantastic.

None of the trails will be particularly crowded any day, but RFB to Doctors would probably be more crowded Saturday. Everything is riding awesome right now, you can't go wrong.

Hit us up when you're here, it'd be great to see you guys! Laurel and I are in CB South. Also I could help with the shuttle to Doctors on Saturday :).
