Nope. You'll be happy with just the A-basin college deal. You could splurge and get the A-basin bonus pass, which gets you 1 day at Snail or BC, and 4 days at Jongstone or Gaperidge, and then unlimited days at A-baseweld. Think it's around $200 for the bonus pass.Quote:

A-basin is sweet, but it gets tracked out quick on powder days. I think the extra $200 is worth it for the Vail and BC powder days, but it's your money.Quote:

I think you can get unlimited vail days at a nice price if you're a student. You may want to call them.
as much as it gets panned on here, probably the second most reliable snow in the front range, after WP/MJ.

Buzz, it's about 20-25 minutes from my house, so 1.5 minutes further from yours.;)
Mammoth Pass - Free, and it gets me 1/2 tix at Whistler and Durango; I think limited to 5 or 7 of em.

Last season I couldn't afford a pass, so by default I skied b/c except for one day when I bougth a ticket (2.5' new years storm), a few days at Silverton, and a day at Targhee (72" of bliss). In total, I believe I got 42 days on snow, five of those in a resort. The rest was spent working my ass off, hiking whatever peaks I peeped and skiing 'em again and again. I was also relegated to some winter camping to access distant peaks, and took advantage of a couple of yurts.
It was hands-down the best season of my life. I never skied hard snow, and often enjoyed 8" - 24" in the local b/c. I discovered new lines and stashes and honed by b/c skills considerably.
Just food for thought.

Think about it: Once you've made that commitment to not buy a pass, every mountain you see becomes an option and hiking something is your only option.
I had a great experience with this outlook and look forward to carrying it to Fort Fun, providing I get in.
Doing ASC and the Colorado Pass

I am still considering an el cheapo A-basin pass or a 4 pack, so I can get some high vert, lot's of laps, etc. type of days in.
LCC dawn patrol alert. 5:30 am until 9am for those that have "real jobs". Once you start touring a bunch as iskibc said, you start looking at the mountains very different. Like my buddy the Foothill Freak. He's a regular in the BC and hasn't owned a pass in years.Quote:

I think that if I didn't have kids that I could completely abort the resort from me. For some reason kids like ski lifts much more than hiking uphill. Hopefully by age 12 my oldest will be my BC buddy. Low angle stuff, tree stashes, etc.
On that note, while on a yurt trip in Idaho two years ago we ran into a guy and his son that had been in the yurt for a couple of days before we arrived. His son was 11. Looked like a rippin' little skier too, and a trooper for making the 3.5 mile trek from trailhead to the yurt.

3 season passes for next season (I had the same 3 this past season).
Mammoth/June - unlimited - $425
Heavenly - restricted - $299
Kirkwood - unlimited corporate quad - $299 (comp)
The Mammoth pass gives some half price tickets at some of their other resorts like Whistler.
The Heavenly pass includes 3 free days at their Colorado resorts. The restricted days are busy holidays that you wouldn't want to be there for anyway.
The Kirkwood pass includes some free days at Durango.
I've been able to do some two resorts in one day with this pass line up such as
Heavenly/Kirkwood
Mammoth/June
and
Keystone/Breckenridge
