I should be getting my Pulse in the new year
Catski operations might think of buying their own update 'dongl' from Mammut. It is very easy to use and the new software is a free download from their site (albeit slightly hidden). You can update up to many (I think 20) units at a time and at the same time enter your company name, etc.
As for the DSP Smart Transmitter: the system is strongly opposed in the ICAR since it hinders proper marking from other models like Pulse and S1. It also causes many ghosting issues. And although the DSP is a big battery consumer, I am not sure if that is the real reason to abandon the Smart Transmitter (that is if they will abandon it...)
