fuzzy memories
some rockin show listed here. my memory is a little fuzzy but my top picks are (in no particular order):
ozzy osbourne, 1982, some small theater in daytona beach fl
with randy rhoads. second loudest concert i ever saw. caught ozzy's shirt with 5 other people and ended up with an entire sleeve.
grateful dead, 1984, ventura county fairgrounds, ca
sun, surf, sand, 2 shows, 3 days of camping, and zero sleep.
pink floyd, 1986, citrus bowl, orlando fl
second row center. pouring rain the entire show. still one of the best shows ever.
pearl jam, 1990, 'the edge' orlando, fl
debut album tour. small club. front row. pic in local paper of eddie doing a dive from the rafters (exactly like the 'even flow' video).
tool, 2000, volkshaus, zurich switzerland
tool. nuff said.
also noteable: rolling stones 1981, the who 1982, both in orlando.

Top Five
1993/4 - Rage Against the Machine @ UMass Campus Center - Just one big pit.
2003 - Jane's Addiction, The Fillmore @ Denver - these guys still rock, awesome awesome awesome, love general admission shows
1995 - Phish, Sugarbush, VT - sweet venue, got close to stage
1993/4 - Mephiskapheles @ Pearl Street, Northampton MA - this band rules, lets everybody come up on stage with them, singing along into the mic with the lead singer even though I didn't know the words, tiny club
1993/4 - Boss Tones @ Pearl Street - first stage dive, somebody stepped on me and I lost my keys, good times
Other Good Times
2001? - WP Summer Music Fest @ WP, nobody was up at the stage for Medeski, it was starting to thunder and sprinkle (2pm, time for your daily CO rain tease), they did this awesome thunderesque kind of jam that played along with the sky...truly talented group.

Led Zeppelin and Three Dog Night at the Green Lake Aqua Theater on Mothers Day 1969 or maybe 70. The stage and backdrop floated in the lake in front of the stands, it was cool. I got in trouble cause I went there instead of home.
All three Sky River Rock Festivals, the first one changed my life. Seattle Pop Festival. All the other little rock festivals in western Washington in the early to mid 70s. You just can't beat good live music outside in the sun and or rain/mud, well...
EmmyLou Harris and the Hot Band at Sand Point with Lake Washington and the Cascades and the hot sun/cool breeze. Mid 80s.
Jimi Hendrix at Sick's Stadium, home of the Seattle Raniers.
Bo Didley at the Rainbow Tavern.
The Yardbirds at the San Leandro RollArena.1966.
Speaking of the 60s, the roller rinks in the Seattle area had dances on weekends with all the best bands around. I spent a lot of time at the Lake Hills Roller Rink when in high school.
Culture Shock was great at the Fremont Octoberfest a couple weeks ago.
One of the best alltime would have to be a show I played at in the early 80s. Venue was the Crystal Mountain lodge, a dance for employees closing weekend. It snowed a foot that night, stayed in employee housing and skied north back deep especially dry powder the next day. It was my first really great powder experience.

My favorite all time venue is the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. Dark, dirty, tiny little place with great atmosphere and great acoustics.[/QUOTE]
My favourite venue as well. LAst years Social Distortion show was great 9 Sept sometime) and in 98 or so I caught Frank Black there one great show.
Next show Tom Waites in two weeks but I think it may be some where else in Funcouver.

oh man so many.
best ever experience: backstage pass to pixies and U2, boston garden st patricks day 1992
first dead show: june 1984 spac
too young to remember it but wish i could: Bob Marley, Music Inn, Lenox Ma 1976
cant believe i enjoyed this but it rocked: Michelle Shocked with the tower of power horns, former bible speaks auditorium, Lenox Ma.
cant believe they let this happen: Metallica, Mullins Arena, UMass, first show in a brand new arena. hell of a way to break in a venue.
I saw them when: Dinosaur Jr playing a house party. Northampton Ma, 1986
Got to see numerous phish shows around new england in the late 80's often in small, nearly empty venues. Also Phish with Santana at SPAC was outstanding.
also saw Red Hot Chili Peppers play a mud pit on the UMass campus with Fishbone in 86 or 87.
