It's been snowing fairly heavily in Breck for the last few hours. Got about 3" so far at my place. Windy too.
The one millimeter of snow should make the trails tacky.
Anyone at BC shoot me a PM and maybe get a drink or take a run if it snows. Is anything at BC open or opening?
Some DippinDots fell at the base of the Beav last night: http://opensnow.com/blog/archives/5158
Yeah i have been working up there as well. The track is in sweet shape and all the full time course crew are working super hard. Its nuts to actually see how many hours go into making that event happen.
Funny how it looks like a few inches may fall Thursday or Friday... downhill days
I heard thunder last night. It's april, right?
That was nuts. It was like hail-snow but at least it was covering. lulz
I'm praying the Euro World Cup gets moved to Aspen or Beaver Creek. That could be what we need to get the season going!
Best of luck Bronic! USA!
Thank you guys. Yeah forerunning is just where they send a few guys down right before bib 1 to check timing and make sure the course runs ok. Normally the U.S. guys from the B and C teams are the forerunners but they are in Aspen till wednesday. And since I am at the ripe age of seventeen running the course full speed I'll need to bring my big boy pants.
Hehe you know it must be dry in Colorado when our weather discussion forum is talking about ski racing...
[Hehe you know it must be dry in Colorado when our weather discussion forum is talking about ski racing...]
Ha, that's actually pretty true!
Storm on Wednesday night & Thursday should bring some flakes to the state, but pretty low accumulations. Best in the upslope east of the divide, north of I-70 with the initial cold front, and actually the San Juans could sneak in with some good numbers through Friday and the weekend if the storm can stay just a bit further east and north than it's current target: San Diego.
well I'd rather have this awful spell now than in Feb. I can tell folks are antsy but there is good snow out there, just have to poke around a bit to find some. It'll come.
I'm actually considering getting in a few park days this week. Should be fun. Copper has a pipe open and I haven't done that in years. The snow will come.
Meanwhile, the mountain biking has been awesome on the front range. 60-70 degree days down here and the singletrack is buff after the early snows. I've ridden 3 of the last 5 days. Come on down! :)
Just a little shameless plug here for something we have been working on with gratzo. Any feedback is welcome!
Things are looking a bit better for this week. I got excited again while looking at weather models this morning, which hasn't happened for a while...
Northern front range could see 6"+ on Wednesday night and Thursday morning - targeting RMNP, Indian Peaks, Berthoud, Eldora, Echo areas.
Rest of the mountains likely won't see more than a few inches, but two more weak jabs from the north on Friday night and Sunday night will renforce the cold air and bring a few inches if things go correctly (and the storms stay far enough west).
This isn't a great pattern for us, but that's the upside. If we can sneak out some snow in an unfavorable pattern, I'll take it.
Put together a graphic here: http://opensnow.com/state/CO/dailysnow
need some more snow love out west, none of these junk front range/upslopes
SW and NE flow for Eagle County with this storm on Thursday doesn't sound good....we'll see
