How about a cookbook that you could pair with utensils like a book on making Pizza at home and a peel or pizza pan etc. Again... Williams Sonoma is a good source for that.

Going off in left field - maybe a historical book about something that is tied to her life. Last year I came across a book on an old Seattle neighborhood that a GF had grown up in so I picked it up for her. Turns out her Grandmother's house was featured in the book! Kinda cool.

I'll throw this in there too - Novica is an awesome site to shop at - they feature handmade items from artists all over the world. I've purchased many items from there and every one has been great.


One more thing - these nightlights are beautiful and well made. They are curved so you don't see the bulb from the side which I like (though I prefer a white bulb for a softer glow than the clear one they include). I have several and just bought the poppy one for my mother as a xmas gift. She's at the age where having a small light on helps with navigation until she can reach a light switch. Hell... I'm at that age. Not a fan of pitch darkness. Never have been. Anyhoo... give them a look. They are pretty even when not turned on and as I said they are well made and substantial (come nicely packaged too). Not your ordinary nightlight. Well, she could say no. Congrats are premature. Though I don’t truly anticipate a problem. But a sincere thank you, all the same. :)

In either event, as a gesture of inclusion I confided in her 22 year old daughter (who almost certainly feels on the outside as her mom has shacked up with me and my 3 kids shortly after she moved out), so I’m locked in now.

On the personal front, I FINALLY acquired a Christmas present that Ms TBS likes. This is like the first time in 15 years. I gave up a for several years - a jewelry maker who manages a day spa and isn’t into outdoor sports can be fucking tough to shop for. Buying clothes usually means returns/disappointment.

Anyway, this year is a success. Got her a floor length Woolrich blanket coat in a Navajo pattern. Made in 1990s. Silver buttons and all. It will take some alteration but Ms SewItAll in our village can handle this no problem.

She loves it with her cowgirl boots and Stetson

Bump- I know this was and usually is a Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate (Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or Festivus), but KQ or anyone have High School Graduation present ideas? Gift Certificate to Amazon is all I can really think of or just give some cash??

Son of a good friend, lots of interests including his Miata that he purchased during High School. I personally have not heard of his next plans and if any plans for College or he could be the type to give a trade school or even Culinary training a go.

My wife and I have been together since the Reagan Admin. We don't really go crazy for gifts and Xmas isn't a huge deal in our home. That being said, I always like to be sure that Mrs. P has something to open on Xmas morning. I bought her a book about bicycle touring around the world (that's our long term goal) but wouldn't mind something else to say that I love her. She nordic skis and gravel bikes, is a former massage therapist (tough customer on that front), prides herself on being a minimalist (no tchotchkes), and doesn't wear much jewelry or makeup.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Some nice gloves or socks for either/both Nordic and biking?

For more $ maybe a garmin/Apple Watch ?

Eddie Bauer has a nice microtherm down vest. I have one and like it a lot. It is close fitting. Good alone or under things and great for activities.
