I like how you changed your co-title to "Gripped". Avalanche risk can be pretty scary from down in the bay. Come up and check it out and maybe you'll change to "fresh underwear". It's probably going to be dust on crust in the BC and super fun fluff on groomers inbounds on Friday. Steepness is not needed for having fun on snow this light and cold as it's easy to get enough speed on a 25-degree meadow skip. You'll have to ask someone more experienced than me where that would be though.

I opted to say "Morning, Roy!" at NoStraightlining and had a great time. Always bummed when they groom the best cruiser on the hill into a terrain park (off Vista). Went to Reno for some glasses and came back to try the central SW-facing chute on Castle, since it looked in. The reason it looks in is because the snow there is frozen in place and covered with Actual Ice. Pretty sure the descent would have involved crampons so traversed all the way over the summit and descended out Upper Castle Creek valley. Great 3.5 hour circle route involving skinning, hiking, steep snow and rock climbing and survival skiing/luge-ing. Plus, the most incredible, crimson sunset I've seen in my life, witnessed from just north of the summit:

7-9 reported at Rose, anywhere from 1-4 in my driveway at 5700' on the Reno side. Considering going to Rose for awhile before work.

Skied Squaw on Sunday with a good friend (and full on gaper) from Hawaii. Off the groomers, the refrozen chunder was skiable though not a whole lot of fun. Morning sun runs on the Slide side were corntastic, and the Rose side was equally fun later in the day. Hecka good times in the sierra!

I skied Rose Monday morning the Groomers were very nice, I discovered that wearing low light googles alowed me to see the shaded terrian on the Rose side perefectly, So North West and Lower Ramseys were really fun. Must have seen you there there were only about 15 0r 20 of us on the Slide Side the first half hour.

Going to TRose this morning would have been a Job threatening event so I have to suffer and look at fresh tracks on the Web Cams.

Usually I would but I'm currently not interested in repeating calc 2 for a third time.

I know a lot of you have been praying for snow or have asked Santa for snow and it’s working. If I had to write the script I wanted to for the forecast it would be what the forecast currently is.

No changes from yesterday. We start with a quick 4-8 inches tomorrow at lake level and 8-12 inches above 7000 ft. West side of the lake. Then a break on Thursday before more light snow possible Friday from a weakening system. Then later Saturday into Sunday the models are still split but the GFS is getting wetter. We have a cold storm coming with at least several inches if not 1-2 feet of powder if the Euro verifies.

Then next week we have a couple back to back storms after a brief break Monday starting on Tuesday. These are cold storms as well and snow Tue-Fri could pile up at least a couple more feet of powder on the mountains. There is no reason that by Christmas there isn’t at least 4-5 feet of new snow on the mountains if the forecast holds for the next 10 days. Stay tuned…BA

It's going to start snowing again around 5 or 6pm today and go until midnight, and then again in the early morning, so tomorrow should be good too.

kwood was pretty good today. some areas up high where the crusty ice layer was strongly evident under the fluff, but typically once you dropped down a turn or two it was quality powder skiing. the lack of people was most appreciated.

I've been gripped since long before it started snowing, pretty much a steady state.

I have the option of Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun this weekend, Sat/Sun looks like the winner. Might be solo though, so will probably stick inbounds unless somebody is looking for some meadow skipping company.

Looking for a backcountry partner for tomorrow in north lake or west shore. Safe, fit and dialed.

Sierra was stupid fun today. So many features, & the snow was good. 8-12" of new snow. Definitely set off some small point release slides that would entrain quite a bit of snow on the steeper sections. Saw tons of small crowns that had slid from a skier turn & slid to the hard stuff underneath. Care full if you venture out in the BC, this was all below tree line in the trees @ Sierra.

i know that but the other one is in fall right off mode. i bought the blue green lhasas with the dynadukes on them, so no jig. didn't check for a downloadable. i read the instructions for how to get the brakes off the dynafits which is required to get the screws out. i opted for the hammer method, which worked quite well
