Gotcha. Honestly, other than fitting a family of 5 comfortably, a stock GX does all I'd need it to.
Pretty tight in the back for 5, like normal sedan/small-mid suv sized.
3rd row seats are usually immediately put on a shelf in the garage as access to them sucks and storage with them in place is greatly reduced.
I bring up the 470/460 thing for off-road ability but also for resale. 470s are holding their value like crazy, not sure if that will happen with the 460s
The 460s third row seats are slightly less of a joke than 470s.
By that I mean; I can handle sitting in the back row of a 470 for 5min max. For a 460 it’s maybe 15min max.

Oh interesting about resale. It's been surprising to see how many pretty affordable 460's are sitting unsold on FB marketplace. I think they're off the list as my youngest could probably handle a trip to a local trailhead in one of those 3rd rows, but def not a several hour ride to a campsite.
Also the 3rd row in the 460 folds flat to the floor so at least they’re more convenient to use than the 470, which take up a ton of cargo space and are therefore likely on a shelf in your garage.

Yes they are, sitting on top of the 80 3rd row seats
My 470 third rows were sold for $100 on craigslist after living in the attic for four years.

Damnit. This is how I end up in Kia :D
I've been shopping 460's quite a bit recently, since a '10-'13 460 is likely our next car. If it was just me, I'd get a late model 470, but wife wants something ~10 years or newer. '10-'13 have comparable approach/departure angles to the 470; 2014-2023 have the aggressive front grille/lip that kills the approach angle. I'm quite sure we'll outgrow the GX in 3-5 years time, but it's the right compromise for her and I and our family needs/wants for the time being.
The downside to the 460 3rd row seats (on top of being miniature) is they're not practically removable and the "flat floor" is actually 3-4” of raised floor in the cargo bed. Not a deal breaker, but I'd rather have the removable 470/LC style seats that I could put in storage:

Wasn’t the gx460 basically another trim design for the 150-series (aka prado)?
I think the “gall boys” drive/drove one around all fuck all in Australia dragging around a large off-road trailer. The few videos of their that I’ve seen, the trucks seem pretty capable. I don’t pay attention to what mods they’ve done on their truck. But it’s a diesel.
Yeah, 470 was a Prado 120 variant and the 460 is a 150 variant. 150's have global usage and are plenty rugged and capable - we drove one around Oman for 10 days through all conditions

Da, is just like tractor. We change oil, we put into fuel tank, good? My brother, he make head gasket from tin roof, runs great. Strong like bull, you don't worry!
Hopefully comes with dash mounted Geiger counter
Does it come with a lifetime supply of khachapuri?
Yes?

Shut 'er down boys, this is it.
This 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser was purchased new by the seller, and it now shows 519k miles. The truck is powered by a 4.5L 1FZ-FE inline-six linked with a four-speed automatic, a dual-range transfer case, and locking front, center, and rear differentials.

Bump.
EPA just released the MPG figures for the new LC. Unfortunately (but not surprisingly) it's not the 27 mpg combined that had been floated around. But 23mpg combined with 25 mpg highway is pretty solid. Tahoe is the same or less weight and manages 20mpg highway.

Anyone care to talk me out of spending 20-ish grand on a clean FJ80? The heart wants it. The head says buying a 30yr old truck might not be the best move, but after having some late 80s pickups, and a 1st gen Tacoma, I know how reliable these machines typically are. Are there lesser known drawbacks for the land cruisers? Ultimately I need a reliable go-anywhere dadmobile that can comfortably fit 4 people and a dog plus all our shit for road trips and camping. I have a company vehicle for work, so it would mainly be a driveway princess/weekend warrior.
I plan to keep it longterm/forever, and prices have come back down to earth after covid drove them up 4 years ago. So it seems like now is the time. I don’t make dentist money like some of you, so can’t afford the 100/200 series. I love the look of the FJ60s, but should probably have something a little more modern. Why shouldn’t I do it?
