so i assume your daughter rides, right? is it just our family that is always encountering sketchy? shitty people in the horse world/ turnover rate on trainers is pretty bad for my sis who is actually one of the more agreeable people i have ever known, she has just worked with some miserable cunts for trainers. she has one she really likes now but the lady's husband murdered his ex-wife and got off. nice guy but sketchy as fuck.

I've had a lot of exposure to the horse world.

My in laws rent pasture to horse owners, no arena, no tack room, just pasture. So some of those people have been OK. A couple of them have been horse rescuers, homed something like 15000 horses headed for glue over the last 15 years. Kind of odd, but generally good folks. In laws pasture fees are like $200/horsemonth, cheap for around here. We got my daughter her first horse for $5 from the rescuers when she was 4.

Then there's kleptos and meglos that show up there, steal shit or try to tell my Finnish FIL how to do stuff. They don't last. It's kind of funny since the old man is tougher than you can imagine and prone to aggressive behavior. Likes his shotgun.

But since we've started this dressage shit, I have seen a lot more assholes, sadists, snooters and shitbags than ever. Had some super unprofessional behavior from one trainer and a lot of other two faced conduct among a sequence of barns, one of which was a Russian run chop shop.

Where serious money runs into sketchball social peripherites, like a reef that engenders some weird ass behavior with deep sea predators.

So yeah, she's got a load of ribbons and is queuing up for Young Riders, but I think the dressage thing is waning while the love of horses will endure.

When's the right time to connect with a coworker who's been fired? I had a coworker in another team who I'd done some work with and like on a personal level; we were having a Slack conversation yesterday and when I went to reply with some additional information, the conversation was gone. Uhoh, search for them and find their account is deactivated. Sucks, and seems like it was a surprise / not their decision since we were planning future work.

So...using the collective as Miss Manners may or may not be a good idea, but when would be a good time to connect on LinkedIn and offer condolences?

awfully hard for kindling, unless you split it down to very skinny pieces I would think. Other than fencing or maybe snow poles hard to see a use for saplings. Maybe a baseball bat for someone strong enough to swing it. I made a cabinet out of wenge, which has a similar hardness, weight, and tendency to split and splinter. It came out well but not a pleasant experience, almost impossible to add and fine detail.

Really? For someone he likes on a personal level (but presumably does not have an outside of work relationship)? I for one would welcome a note on linkedin expressing condolences, what is the point of waiting? If the fired worker is pissed or not ready to respond they don't have to; that's the wonder of electronic messaging. After being cut-off/unceremoniously let go, I would think a friendly "hey, what happened, I went to reply to our thread and it was gone. I'm sorry." would be something anyone would be happy to receive.

Do it KQ, if you have room take in a couple. You don't have to go all Annie Savoy on them but it would really be worth the occasional TR.

My grandfather owns a minor league team and I grew up in the clubhouse. Saw lots of things no child should see.

They aren’t terrible people like horse people. They are actually really good dudes for the most part, specially the latins. They are just disgusting.
