Just want to say thank you to VTF for all these years with such consistent morning reports. The pictures are outstanding as well, that zoomed in one is great! For all of us who reside in Southern/Central NE or even anyone who's not right on the mountain, it's a huge assistance on shot-calling.
I will make sure to carry around beer for the day we meet.
In other news, I'm pretty stoked on the prospect of it snowing until Thursday.

The Gong show? That looks like an Official Klusterfuk! Chuck would be proud.
Nice angulation, especially for gray hair. FGB to the Bell boys...
(thats Full Goose Bozo for you youngins)
Luckily BD and I only had to wait in that line once. I think it was 10-15 minutes. Soon after they opened TTB and the crowds thinned quickly. Only had one close call with another skier.
The Catamount Trail Assoc not only provided lunch, but they brought massage therapists so I got a chair massage after lunch!
Stowe didn't suck today.
Sorry vtski, I kind of dropped the ball on meeting up with ya but there will be a next time.

Also, PSA always remember to detune your tips.. my double ejection was pretty sweet today!
My day was all work! And tomorrow too! Going to be warm though!
So true!
Meanwhile, today was probably the only weekend afternoon when this place has snow yet isn't a gong show:

K is looking great. Hoping to ski there Tuesday on fresh pow.
I spent the morning getting the legs in shape hiking West Kill Mountain. The three peaks in the view are Thomas Cole, Black Dome, and Blackhead. I had a view of the other side of these on last week's hike up Acra Point. Hunter's backside is showing in the middle. They had the guns blasting when I drove by.

Nice shots, Goniff and VT-F. Seeing the Catskills and the MRV on the same page really warms my icy ec heart.
As I was unable to follow in BD and MNIAW's footsteps in the corral, I decided to check out a second ski movie for the week, procuring free tickets (3-1 - closing???) at Belleayre, and a 2-1 at Gore/WF as well as a mysterious Bush ticket that might get mailed to me, depending, at Warren Miller's Never Turn Back Again 2014.
This was an odd choice of a title as the best parts of the movie are spliced with vintage wedeling in cham and sun valley, and cool race footage of marc ghiradelli and ingemar stenmark ripping gs in the reflections of goggles, rearview mirrors, etc. One scene had this sweet layer of modern day but old mike hattrup skiing the exact same line as some unnamed skiers under the hulk of Mt. Blanc 50 years later from OG wme. I dug that. Some of the rest of it seemed to lack a little soul though.
Powdery scenes of vertical orchards in Japan were a kind of consolation prize for imagining what new england would look like under an additional 30 feet of snow and of course not actually winning anything. Guns made a brief appearance 'first drop' style but legal weed did not. This country is stupid.
And did anyone else notice the high percentage of shots taken via helicopter of people touring, because touring is so cool? Just wondering. Couldn't help but feel like a high percentage of these skiers were wearing trackers and duke footwear, too. :rolleyes2 At least some Praxis Skis made it into the mix, it sure made me miss my MVPs although the ride of choice in Norway was the GPO.
Refreshments hit a strong local note: the six point cans were cold, delicious, plentiful, and somehow ended up in my hands a bunch. Overall: B+ night.
East or bust, are those moguls in centerline? I looked at the sneaux report and the mountain says it isn't open yet. I'm confused. Still, I'm not too good for a half zipper and it's been awhile since I threw down a proper helicopter, or whatever the kids call it these days. Hope you got some smooth turns and some air, too. You guys are all gonna be in prime season form before I even try on my boots. Or maybe it's worth the wrath of NYS to try to get some of this, heard some bs about 4" on top, more coming, blah blah blah. Nice shot though.

p.s. blog every day
Don't fret LD... I only skied a half day (but it was well worth the $25), am working too AND I missed out on the massage :(
The slave driver in me set big goals for finishing your guest house this weekend, so I had to make up the time last night:

ML, sweet blog. I'd subscribe, and even have a title...."Matt's Modern Musings". Ehhhh?!
^I'm not sure I like you anymore...
The River skied ok yesterday. In the am, they only had the triple going and there were a few 20 min lines before they got the quad fired up. If they hadn't gotten the quad going, the lines would have made it a terrible day. There was even a little powder to be had on the run that opened with the quad. A few inches of fresh on styrofoam that skied quite well. Storm Monday night looks a little warm unfortunately. Maybe N VT stays snow?
Some light flakes on the drive from SB to KMart.
See how the crowds are today. HT/Lawson combo left me sluggish this morning.
I was psyched to try out my new skis and boots. Work out the kinks before the snow really flies. Both passed the test as my EEE width clownfeet were actually ok. The new skis performed well, too and you know exactly what ones I'm talking about. They are the Epic choice, but fuck it, they work for NE!
IE, I hope you'll agree with these tunes. Keeping with the theme, the guy is STOOOOOOOOOKED!!!:
Those are indeed bumps on centerline. Yesterday was pass holder day so not an official opening, I believe that's on the 22nd. Probably was one of the best first days I've had, can't remember any other time skiing decent bumps on opening day.
From what I could tell they didn't get that much snow at the top of the quad Thursday-Friday/into Saturday, 2" or so, maybe another inch all the way up top. Hopefully grab a couple more inches by next weekend.
