Will mounting a Strive demo or look spx metrix demo leave enough room to mount a P18 at 295mm bsl in the future?
Which of the two demo bindings would leave the most mount point options open for the p18?
I am determined to play around with mount points on a new pair of skis.
Fwiw: Both these low stack height demo bindings end up with only a 1.5mm difference in stack height after shimming to zero delta.

I've done that ^^ the only thing is you can't use the numbers on shim to set bsl/ preload

What's the consensus on how to fill a hole that's been helicoiled? Bought a pair of skis and didn't realize one set of holes had helicoils. Banged a plastic plug in there, but couldn't figure out why I couldn't shave it flat til I saw the metal.

Just epoxy the coils into place. Done.

I’ve been mounting all my own skis for a decade now with great success. However the other day I went to reuse some old holes from a previous mount and lo and behold I got a spinner. I’ve done the epoxy and fiberglass trick before and it’s held. But I figured why not get a helicoil set up. The price for a kit is totally absurd. They just print wintersteiger on it and quadruple the price. If I understand correctly, ski binding screws are m5 screws? I should be able to buy an m5 tap and helicoil install toll off Amazon or harbor freight plus requisite drill bit to properly size hole and then buy helicoils for 50 cents each? Am I missing something?

I’m not the expert here so take my advice with a grain of salt. Pivots have a short mounting span (there’s a better word for span but I’m not remembering it now) and I think demo bindings have a large mounting span so I think it’s unlikely you’ll have conflicts. Maybe check the toe. You could also mount the demo binding with a larger than standard bsl and that would also help avoid conflicts. Personally is go with the strive demo binder just cause it sounds like a decent demo binding from the thread on hereQuote:

There are a lot more M5 machine screw options available for Binding Freedom or Quiver Killer stainless steel inserts than alpine options. Not only are they good for spinner repairs, but also if you are close to old holes with new holes, shimming, canting or binding swaps.

Love the Pivot toe but don’t like the heel so much. Wish there was a lighter PX15 heel with more brake sizes.
Will the SPX15 mount flat on a ski?
Does it need the rocker race plate to function properly?
And will the PX15 or any other wider brakes work on the SPX15?
Will the SPX15 work with a Grip Walk AFD plate?

Not officially - Look says spx 15 rockerace requires the race plate - regular rumblings of folks here and at skitalk flat mounting them but I’ve never seen a report back how it worked out - maybe they diedQuote:

Mounted my own fucking skis. Outlaw X’s at +0.75 to avoid prior BMF/R mount (7 screws for the toe). Used marine epoxy for the first time. Still can’t find my tap.
