Vapor barrier system, like next to skin thin latex gloves, works great for helping keep hands warm when it’s cold. Worn under insulated gloves. Bonus is that they eliminate sweat getting into the glove insulation. Sweaty insulation will lead to cold hands. Also, the vapor barrier will minimize drying out of your hands and cuticles that results from wearing insulated gloves in dry weather.
Right of Cornice Bowl is some of the best skiing on the mountain IMO. I was sad they took out CB2--it was a nice option for days when Headwall was closed.Quote:

Best gloves = Hat, scarf, extra layer(s), down jacket, and bump runs. If the core isn't warm, the fingers and toes have no chance. Close all the vents and cinch all the cuffs. Interweave layers at the waist. Modern jackets seem to have monstrous necks, so maybe two scarves to seal the neck. Hand warmers in the inside pocket of fleece midlayer helps too, though I either don't carry them or forget I have them. Sometimes on the lift, I also pull my fingers back and make a fist in the palm of the glove, and wiggle my toes.Quote:

Totally agree that the problem with forestry goes back 100 years however that just made it more critical that we started to intensively address it over the last decade or two instead of trying to pretend that it didn’t exist. Correct. Look at the spacing between houses in the Palisades fire area. There is no a way to defend that if there is much wind.
Yeah, sweat is my issue and then I get cold hands. Kinco 1927s work well as they're breathable. But when it's colder or snowing/wet snow, I have a pair of Dakine mitts with a zipper so I can vent them when needed. Also throw a glove liner on sometimes too under the mitt.Quote:

Kinco mitts separate the fingers internally which I don't like so much. I assume it's for dexterity, but idk. Maybe they've update the design. I used to sell their gloves so I've tried many of what they sell.

the SB groomers were nice today. The wind died. Watching some good park skiers under Lincoln was entertaining.
IMO that ice layer will be impervious to softening if we get Junuary conditions in the next few days, even S facing.. Hope I'm wrong.

Ash is definitely rideable, just be sure to clean it out of the gouges in your base before waxing.
