...damn! I looked...again!
Welcome back RT3. Hey listen, there are a bunch of questions over the past 20-25 pages here that you haven't answered and that's cool but there's one that almost keeps me up at night:
What was with putting your ski boots on while they were clicked into the bindings?
Seriously. I don't have a lot of bc experience myself and I learn a lot of stupid little shit the hard way but I'm really having a tough time picturing this.
Thanks.
Gentlemen, as RT3's newly self appointed agent, I will be handling all inquiries related to this terrifying and incredible experience of survival and self promotion.
Please refrain from directly badgering Patrick himself, and as I am sure you can understand, he has been dealing with hordes of hungry media hounds daily. It has been one of the most grueling and challenging events he faced to date, and just deciding what selfie to post is still haunting him most nights.
Together, we can get through this and we hope to have a media acceptable image for national release soon. Lastly, regarding his decision to enter the boots while locked into his skis, this was simply an oversight on his part. Given the extreme difficulty and double black barrel rating of King Ravine's famous "Beretta Shoot", Mr. Luk was using Rax skis and did not notice them on the bottom of his boots. Thank you.
I find the last part of your post very hard to believe. RAX skis provide the most control of anything on the market. A fall like this would be unfathomable for an amateur, let alone a FIS racer. Trying to put the blame for your clients actions on an incredible product like RAX is dastardly. Hopefully Tom will soon become aware of this accusation and appear in this thread with video evidence showing that RAX wings would allow even your grandmother to self arrest, or simply fly to the bottom of the ravine with precise control.
Fucking agents. A wolf in sheep's clothing if you ask me...
While continuing to ponder all these relevant issues - I received a sign next to me on the road - maybe even the HQ

I want to believe I can hike with boots already locked / loaded
I want to believe in the canuckistan ski racers
I want to believe teh wolves are coming for us
Unfortunately, in order for me to properly address your inquiry, standard protocol dictates that I first obtain a level four signed release form from my client.
And please note, Mr. Luk's use of Rax skis is in no way, shape or form, an endorsement or assumed cause of this accident. The failure point has yet to be determined, but rest assured, RT3 assumes no part in it and has been noted earlier, is a pre-med student. This alone legally and morally absolves him of all assumed, implied and/or inferred guilt.
i think rt3 ripped off my patent-pending-transition-time-saving-technique (PPTTST).
the biggest fear and danger of this PPTTST is to have one's skis (and boots) take a ride down gnarcoulior sans rider.
the key to avoiding this embarassing outcome is to put on your boots while the boots are clicked into the binders while the skis are still attached to your pack.
a unfortunate side effect of this PPTTST is it that it may put one into an extreme form of "downward dog" which all the alpha wolves find quite fetching.
in the near future there will be a fund set up for RT3 to pay for his racing fees for the newly formed (and with any luck Olympic event) of Canadian extreme downhill face sliding. While he currently does not hold the world record in longest slide, he does feel that his times from his recent exploration into this high caliber event may very well put him one day on the podium. This is of course if his Caribbean Medical School studies do not interfere with his training regimen.
Also, in case anyone is wondering, part of his lengthy recovery time is due to having his three lower ribs removed. He decided to have this extreme surgery to finally achieve the flexibility needed to perform the boot/ski/backpack step in maneuver. He feels that this increased flexibility will expedite this maneuver, thus leaving him with less time exposed to the possibility of a "downward dog" wolf attack.
Not that anyone else cares, but the former alpine race coach in me can't resist commenting:
- Yes, sure, can't just hop into FIS races like USSA races. The point of my prior post though was that I couldn't understand why you would want to enter FIS races, given your USSA results.
- The 173 USSA GS point race in the spring of your second season racing (correct?) is indeed impressive.
- Then you're saying the next season (2009-10?) your FIS GS results (under a Canadian license) were in the 90s? Where are these listed? (Does your subsequent U.S. license somehow overwrite any prior record in the FIS database of your results under a Canadian license?)
- Sorry to hear about the prior MCL & meniscus injury. (I presided over enough of those as a coach not to wish them on anyone.) But are you saying that you went from racing FIS GS in the double-digits to USSA GS in the high 200s and low 300s?
the gun slowed him down
Clearly there's a market here that Black diamond is missing out on.

Yes, with his extensive emergency medical kit, he could certainly use a checklist to help him remember everything.
And speaking of which, I need to revise my Upvise packing checklist to reflect my newly enhanced RT3-inspired kit:

(Hope our daughter doesn't notice that I raided her gear, and maybe she knows some boys who can lend me realistic armaments to deter all the gray wolves.)
.... no gun first off. I don't see a BP cuff either... Also you have voile straps and scarpa touring boots...
you need to lose the voile straps and scarpa boots, then pick up a nice piece and some lace up 160 flex boots to make this an RT3 inspired kit.
boots should already be in the bindings too
I started following the directions at:

... but ran out of enough specialized pieces.
Look below the skis, above the map & sat texting device.

And the last time I raced DH on this setup, I had the heel unit forward release value set at 13, but do you advise maxing them out at 18?
^^^ thats great!! Just almost spit out my beer
