Almost mentioned these skis in your BG thread, these skis will cover your concerns about the BG's in the trees.
If I didn't take up sledding and snowbiking, I'd have both width Steeples in my quiver. Suffice it to say, I'm a fan of the Steeples!
I cant wait to ski them. They seem like a great ski that would have just enough stability for skiing fast in deep snow, while being maneuverable and fun. And take off like 2 lbs per ski when adding dynafits, in comparison to billy goats or jeffreys with pivot 18s.
I almost went with a 189 k2 shred 112 for touring. They were like 275 on STP, good deal, but theyre heavier and softer and measure more like 191cm. Whereas the the 189 steeple measures true to 189cm and have a much stiffer tail flex, less centered mount, which is actually more maneuverable for me based on how I ski. If the 189 shreditor can ski fast in most inbounds conditions, everything but refrozen or firm crud, than I suspect that the steeple 112 will do slightly better with its tip and tail shape, mount point, and stiffer flex. The steeple is still 2200-2300g per ski, which has enough mass to go somewhat fast.
Im also glad I kept the 191 BG tho too. Its way more of a tank but has just the right amount of pintail and rocker to have some fun. Good contrast between the two but similar shapes and same mount locations so your not switching up style so much, rather just lighten up your feet for the steeples

And us weirdos are definitely helping them (the company and the retailer) move product. Customers of that retailer who learn about the brand through b&m google the company for reviews, and this place does more than any other marketing vehicle to covert that sale.

^^^Having been a buyer for a retailer in the past, I disagree. Undercutting your retailers is ALWAYS a bad idea.
ON3P does just fine with reviews/mags getting on their sticks as it is. And the same people that find reviews on TGR are the same people that find the discount code on TGR...
Just save your money, pray to the gear gods, and hope 186 wren 112s are available when the sales start mid spring.
The cease and desist graphic is rad this year, they have been growing on me. The billy goat, not so much. It is definitely more mature, and still sweet, but i like last years and 2013 better.
Can I get a review of that C&D later this winter?
Ever since they went with the lighter layup in that ski for 13/14, there hasn't been a decent review. Generally people like them, looks like the perfect deep day ride for a Billy Goat fanboy like me...
I've skied on Xavier D's pair, with the older heavy layup and I didn't like them at all. But conditions were the opposite of what they should have been for testing this ski.
When it's a big company I'm all about getting whatever discount I can. When it's smaller and they haven't even turned a profit yet, not so much.
But that's just me. Although I've only purchased three different pairs of ON3P skis, which puts me in a lower percentile around here I suppose. ;-)
I'm all for them making more profit. Of course there are lots of ways to skin that cat, and maybe I'm oblivious but I have yet to see a boutique-scale company like this get profitable via running higher volume low-margin business out of an inherently low volume production operation. Scanned this thread and couldn't answer my question. Got on some on3p stuff a couple years ago at beartooth pass demo, really impressed with the durable feel. Rode wrens in various sizes looking for something angry and fun to replace my chams some day. That'll prolly happen eventually.
However, what I'm next in the market for is a "park" and "bump" ski I can use for work. I know no such thing exists but im trying anyway.
I teach ski school basically 6 days a week bell to bell, the majority of my time teaching moguls to adults and kids, and small to medium features to young adults and kids. I'm shopping around for a ski I can wear all day and not look like a fucking idiot in either the park or the bumps.
Currently I got élan stuff from a rep here: amhibio 14s for bumps/groomers and a slingshot for park. I don't even like the slingshot, but it was cheap. 168 on 14s, 171 on slingshots. So currently, if I get roped into the park on my 14s = potential blood on the ice. And if I end up in the bumps on those fucking slingshots = full retard.
Questions:
1.Anybody here been on the filthy rich? Wondering if it has enough rebound/stiffness to work in bumps with that rocker. Also wondering how short it skis. My chams are 178 so thinking the mid 170s would be the place to land here.
2. Is the kartel nimble enough at lower speeds I won't be sweating balls to not crush piles of kiddos on a cat track? And would it handle small/medium features at medium speed ok?

Kartel is what I thought of about half way through reading your post. But only been on the 106 Kartel on near perfect snow bumps, and they were great there. No idea about icy bumps.
The kartel 98 186 is nimble and stable AF and that tail rocker makes bumps pretty easy. Money width for the park, IMO.

How large of a guy/girl are you? The Filthy Rich and Kartel have the same amount of tip/tail rocker, so should ski similarly (though I haven't skied either).Quote:

Holyyy FFF, the tychoons are soo F'N good. Absolutely amazing skis. Its a mini vicik, but sooo much quicker and much better for early season or bumps. I actually took them into the park at boreal and had fun. Gets thrown around a little more than the vicik, but I expected that, being thinner and lighter. Great at speed and with long turns, but still so quick to turn when needed. I love these skis! Just dont get into the backseat or you will have a bad time. Great for directional chargers that like to pop and play off every little hit you can find.
The wrenegade 102 is probably just as rad.
Has anyone here skied the 191 Jeffrey 114?
Recently added the Steeple 102 (189) to the quiver and trying to figure out mount point. Was originally thinking of mounting on the line but after fondling them a bit, I'm thinking about mounting a tad (1cm) forward. Am I crazy to do this? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a 50/50 (deep bc / 6" resort) ski for and the steeple 112 has been on my radar. Can anybody point me to a review? I also have a DPS w99 that I'm not in love with, so this would replace that for winter touring, and I'd get something <90mm for consolidated spring tours or maybe the wren 102 could fill that spot.

Well, I can tell you that the 186 wren 112 has a higher speed limit than the 185 OG Cochise (not the new softer version). I would assume the same of the 102. Edge hold seemed about the same - I thought the Cochise was pretty good in that sense.
