once again, a pathetic early season. i've grown tired of riding the bike, I'm fucking ready to ski, but can't justify going up there to carve slush on a WROD. Ullr, why have you forsaken us?

Ugh i was up at A-basin saturday and it blew. Man-made snow, ice sheet on top. Ski patrollers every 200 yards yelling at everyone. I don't think I'll go back until there is some real accumulation.
I am not holding out much faith for this incoming storm nor the little shortwaves dropping out of the NW for this weekend.
Until the westerlies really punch through and the large persistent high pressure off the west coast breaks down, we won't be getting big storms.
Will there be a big snow before Christmas?:nonono2:
Doesn't look good long term at all.
FUCK. 67890
*cries* :(
montanaskier is fine....the WROD is going off right now.

Is the high pressure finally going to move from over top of Colorado?
not fully...at least not for awhile. It will break down a bit over the weekend then again late next week but nothing long term and nothing in the way of "big" storms on the horizon.
Montanaskier, since you seem to know what you're talking about... What about by Dec 15-19? Think that high will move out by then. That's when I am making a ski trip out that way.
no way to tell, it could break down before then and we could get dumped on. Pattern seems more active than the past couple of weeks...we'll see.
I'll keep praying. It would suck to spend all that money to come out there and ski 4 runs.
I swear Loveland reported a loss in snow today. At least the tunnel traffic cam looks like a couple more inches fell atound midnight.
from weather.gov
for loveland pass co:
This Afternoon: Snow. High near 29. West northwest wind between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Tonight: Snow, mainly before 1am. Low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -7. West northwest wind between 15 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 23. Wind chill values as low as -4. West northwest wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
highly unlikely but if all the possible highs hit....11 inches!
I'll take 6 total and like it.
strong North/NW flow setting up over the the divide. this is where the front range/summit get favored. totals won't be huge, but it should be persistent.

hmmmm. excellent. i'm going to need a dawn patrol sometime this next week pronto, perhaps this should work well for that...
Wolf Creek got 13" last night. That is all.
edit: in this "storm" Wolf Creek got 13", still nice though.
i heart a NW flow.
