^Very nice pictures from Maine. I was just across the Gulf this weekend.

We went up to Mt Hood to catch the super moon/lunar eclipse. Here's the boy waiting for the show. Attachment 169921

Super Moon in BLOOD!
Here in the northeastern US, the lunar eclipse occurred rather high in the sky, so it was difficult to find something interesting to put in the foreground. The tallest things around here are churches so I went to see what I could find.

Not too often that you can get a shot of the Milky Way during a full moon:

Very nice shots, Tim, but that last one is really amazing!
Thanks! It took took some experimentation as I had moved to a very dark hilltop outside of town as the end of the eclipse was nearing. I looked up and wondered if I could get the Milky Way and the moon in the same wide angle shot. Usually a full moon washes out the Milky Way but the eclipse darkened the moon so much that it was possible to capture the scene. I still had to make two exposures, one long one to get the Milky Way and a shorter one to get the red moon. I extracted the moon and put it in the longer exposure shot to show what looking almost straight up actually looked like last night.
I got a few decent eclipse shots, but the view to the east was blocked at my house, so by the time the moon was high enough it was just past totality. You don't have much time after that to get good photos because the contrast is too high between the part of the moon in shadow and the part that isn't.
Here's another one from my Mt Rainier trip yesterday.

Getting closer to peak which is still probably 4-5 days away. Unfortunately that is when the hurricane is supposed to hit. So this weekend I'm going to have to get after it if I want to get some good fall shots.

I finally bought a $5 filter holder for my Singh Ray reverse grad filter (nod to Adam Barker) because I have never had any luck holding it by hand and was playing with it Friday night at my daughter's soccer practice (purple shirt) with some cool results. Also bought an inexpensive Tiffen warming filter but haven't used it much yet.

Went up to RMNP this morning in the snow to take some pictures and explore. I managed to catch these two playing around just below the road:
