I need to remount and old pair of dyna- dukes, I will reuse original screws. What size drill bit diameter do I need and how deep into the ski should I go? What is a good way to plug the holes? I live far from any shops so would like to use stuff I have or can get from hardware store. Will just dropping repair ptex candle drips work?

Now I’m thinking the main difference is simply the thickness of the middle of the base plates. The middle of original base plate is flush with sides. The GE plates are recessed. I’m sure there is something else, but throwing them back on the skis, I’m not finding any other substantial, geometric difference….yet:

As far as I can see, an infill piece needs to be part of the mix or a frankenplate like the one previously, might be an option to get the geometry correct.

actualy IME ductaping a crack in a WW boat would keep the water out and last a long time, re-tape once a season but taping up a crack doesnt have to be very exact whereas mounting a binding does
I’ve used marine grade epoxy to fix some massive cracks and they held for years, still going as far as I know, boat was givin away long ago. I don’t think I’d trust duct tape in a river, but in a pinch, Fuck yeah.
Also FWIW I’ve bought AFD’s from CAST to convert GW’s to alpine, they have both, it’s a super easy swap
Ductape has always been pretty common on the river, pre 1983ish plastic boats were made by hand out of FG in someones garage using a mold, often they make > one from the mold. if you hit some thing it starts leaking so slap ductape on, once a month get a case of beer and have a patch party in that same garage where they fix all the damage on ever buddies boat with epoxy & FG.
Plastic boats from about 83 on were pretty indestructible but early plastic was mostly impossible to permanently fix when they cracked so more ductape, I got a 4-6" crack under my seat of my Dancer so when I popped the deck to see WTF the water was coming from I could see the bottom of a very big river, so I ductaped it for the next 4 yrs until I got a new boat
rip a dryssuit seal just ductape it, same with a hole in the suit just ductape it, hole in spray deck ductape it, blisters on my thumb were prevented with ductape
But I'm just not really sure how ductape on a ww kayak correlates to instaling ski bindings in a p-lot ?

GF was gifted some Armada ARW skis and bindings, in need of a remount for her boot size. Had no jig for that one so i eyeballed it. Looks pretty good.
Wondering if anyone's got knowledge of some really old bindings and hole patterns...
I picked up a minty set of Spatulas but they have ancient Marker M.1100 Titanium demo bindings. I think they changed pattern in ~2015/16 but can't find a sure answer. If anyone knows what the newest bindings that share this hole pattern are I'd like to try and track a pair down.
Front hole pattern is 35mm width x 65mm length
Rear hole pattern is 22mm width (front most holes), 40mm width (rear most holes) x 100mm length between holes.

The Volants i had i just put in plugs and redrilled.
Reckon you could make a paper template from the holes and take it with you to a ski shop to compare.
Put a call out to Marker, cringe, to see if they have anything to fit?

I think it’s unlikely you’ll find something that matches, but probably still worth the call to marker. I like the idea of attack demos (noteably better than look demos imo) and they work for GW, AT, and alpine soles and most BSLs so in theory you’ll never have to mount again

Im buying a pair of used skis flat that were mounted for pivots and Ill probably need to reuse the holes. The holes have been filled with epoxy. Should I be using helicoils when mounting in the same holes? Open to suggestions here, not to sure what to do.
If you ^^ want to use the old holes try drilling the same holes with a very small bit ( that one you usually break 1st ) to make a pilot hole
You sure they’re not plastic plugs? I know people do epoxy filled but relatively uncommon in my experience. If they are plastic, pull the plugs by screw in a small screw and pulling out. If they are epoxy, drill out first using a pilot hole like xxx said. You can screw right into these holes and will probably work. If you get a spinner, let it set with slow set epoxy and try again, if still a spinner, do a helicoil or insertQuote:
