Awesome to see some are getting their shuffle on.
Got lucky at a consignment store yesterday and my whole family now have striding boots that fit well (for now!). Usually, there's one or two that are enjoying their time shuffling around, but are enduring discomfort in their feet. Now I need to find nnnbc bindings or bindings on skis for one of my kiddos. We have skis that would work for him, but not (yet) nnnbc clamps.

This year I will advance my skate technique from sucky-sufferfest to survivable
A survivable suckfest is preferred! It's the only way to get stronger and sometimes better. Advancing your technique will have you smiling while suffering! Once you are in the 'flail cave', it's time to stop and recalibrate from eh?! ...have fun n'shit!!
For sure... skate is absolutely the most rapid and harsh punisher of the "well I'll just do it harder" method to overcome lack of technique.

Any favorites for nordic pants? 20 -35 degrees mostly, dry weather or dry snow.
So many options. For that temp I like this Maloja: (mine look new after a full season).

Comes in med. long for example.
I use the Daehlie Winner pants in that range. Fit is snug but not grape smuggler (or camel toe) tight. I've even raced in them (but get funny looks from the race suit crowd).

Probably not as nice, but I just wear cycling pants.
I ride every morning before skiing and just wear these under my ski pants.

I've been using some fleece lined pants sold on AZ that are great. Stretch poly facing that sheds snow and wind with fleece lining. There's a bunch of them. What's nice is they aren't too snug and the stretch makes them really comfortable. Mtn hardware was making them but they are slim fit and ran north of 80 bucks. The ones from Asia are like 35 to 50 and a little thicker. Some have a windblocking layer for colder windy days, but they don't stretch much. If it's storming nothing beats thermals with a gtex shell
we decided to avoid the holiday weekend Jerrys, jongs and gapers riding chairs today
and dork the groomers instead. Good call, the trails were deserted ....

On groomed XC (like yesterday), I'll usually wear tights, sometimes with a poly baselayer underneath if it's well below freezing. For backcountry XC (like today), I have a pair of light fabric softshell pants.
And while I'm here, pics from the last couple of days...

another very enjoyable green wax day.
Past three days in central Vermont have been incredibly good. Packed cold powder and blue sky. Today was absolute perfection, lots of vacation week folks getting out. Sunglasses are fine people, leave your goggles for Killington!

last one tonight before the snow gets reset back to august levels.
What's the go to for low light glasses that don't fog badly? My area has been pretty tight and humid this winter and I'm sick skiing in amber sunglasses and that are 50% fogged.
Bollé makes a photochromic lens that goes from clear to fairly dark. They're great!

My experience with photochromatic lenses is that the reflection from the snow and the cold temperatures makes them too dark when there is low light. Are these different somehow?Quote:
