Action packed second half. Hope someone wins this in OT and not on PK's.
Messi could have not intentionally run into his back. That is never a yellow card and never a foul. The defender is not obligated to get out if the way and the cheating is the fact that until he got the card for simulation ANY time he took a heavy touch he threw himself down theatrically. Yes it works and yes it's cheating.
Each with an outstanding scoring chance. The ref could card himself for taking out Messi there.
Back to back awesome saves by each keeper! Smells like PK's.
How about Messi moving the free kick forward and forward 3-4 times?
Cheater
Supremely entertaining 120 minute 0-0 draw. Fucking penalties...
Ha, its not cheating if they don't catch you.
Chile's touches on the attack were off the majority of the match but their backline did their job and then some.
White and Blue get this done.
Late Edit: Or Not! Bravo comes up Uuuuge!
Iceland's chance of beating England?
Fair to middling
Holy shit. Crazy game.
Why does the Chile guy have a volkl neck tattoo?
Messi quits international football

Meow meow meow messi MEOW !!!
I lost a lot of respect for Messi last night. The diving. The whining. Missing PK badly. And then he quits the National Team. WTF!!! You don't give up...you keep fighting for the titles. He's only 29.
...and then there's the money laundering. Even cokehead Maradona looks awesome compared to him right now.
Not sure I can relate to Messi and his problems, but Maradona is the wrong horse to hitch your cart to if you're looking for dignity and clarity.
Awful refereeing.. Such a pity because a really good game was trying to happen out there.
And I can't say I blame Messi for quitting the team.. The pressure he is under is almost unparalleled in sport anywhere.
Plus there's something a players revolt going on against Martino and the AFA at the moment expect more to quit.
QFT. That first half had some of the most shocking refereeing in a big match I've ever seen.
Masche and Aguero already announced intl retirement and Di Maria, Higuain, Biglia, and Lavezzi are probably all going to hang it up, too. Tata sucks balls as a coach, he needs to go. Messi will come back for World Cup once the AFA shenanigans are sorted out. Sure Messi is taking all the stick right now, but Higuain once again shit the bed in a final - dude just can't score on the biggest stage.
I'm obviously biased as a huge Barca and Messi fan, but I'm really not seeing the diving you guys are talking about. Of all of the diving that was taking place on the field last night (which is part and parcel of any big South American game), singling out Messi, who got hacked multiple times and didn't make any egregious dives, seems absurd.
Yes...Messi gets hacked. Any great player does. I just hate diving and I saw it from him more than any other player last night. Sometimes the ref's play favorites with the great players too. I see it all the time. At least that ref called Messi on his one dive.
Chile deserved to win though.
Messi is usually the least guilty of flopping whenever he's touched. The guy get's fouled more than anyone else in the entire sport and routinely just picks himself up and goes about his genius.
But it's a final with the referee clearly having a bad day sticking his chest and chin into even the slightest stoppage, missing a shit load of off the ball stuff that his over officiating created.... flopping becomes a legitimate tactic IMO.
A lot of diving in the Spain/Italy match today. Fun game regardless. Happy for the Azzurri, and their manager seems like a great guy. Love the passion.
C'mon Iceland! Nice goal
Yea!!!
