Yup, put a six pack on the shelf earlier in the week. Seems like the reviews aren't overwhelmingly positive on it though so it hasn't flown out nearly as quickly as the cask strength Elijah bottles did the last time around.

I'm in SW CO and my LLS can't get any so I ordered some from Bounty Hunter in Napa. I had a couple of bottles last fall and just loved it. I poured some in a glass with a single ice cube and waited until the ice melted. Outstanding!Quote:

This thread is gold. Thanks to you all I picked up a bottle earlier this week and tipped into it tonight. I was kinda surprised...but I really liked it. I had GTS last year and it was so hot and had a pretty brutal aftertaste, wasn't my favorite. This Stagg Jr. is much different, not nearly as sweet and smooth that the ECBP I picked up a few weeks ago, but I really liked it. Kinda medicinal, not a harsh finish, really really good stuff.
FYI- Atlas Valley Likker in Louisville CO is now called "The Land of Milk and Honey". The owner is a
bourbon aficionado and makes some amazing purchases. ie. Parker's Heritage "promise of hope" (donates to ALS foundation)
Can't seem to find that kind of selection in Idaho, which is probably good for my wallet. Wish I had some reason to come down to the Boulder area though and swing by The Land of Milk and Honey, that sounds sweet! I had some Parker's Heritage at the end of last year, that shit was good. Definitely a worthwhile add to the quiver.
This years (7th ed) Parker's Heritage is the finest bourbon I have tasted, I plan on squirreling away at least a couple bottles. Surprised nobody else has commented on it.... More for us!Quote:

Today was good. Mother's Day brunch served with Maple-bourbon old fashions made with my Stagg Jr. (Stagg, plus a pinch of maple syrup, drop of orange juice, lemon juice + rind, and some bitters). Extremely good with the bold taste of the Jr, and got everyone relaxed and enjoying themselves quite efficiently! Mrs. Slow approved too, which is good since she normally only drinks her whiskey neat or with water.
Can't remember if it was discussed earlier but Michter's is some mighty fine bourbon. I've found a few bottles of the 10 year, and this past weekend was back home in KY and tried the 20 year at the restaurant I used to work at. Holy jesus that was some smooth delicous bourbon, but hard to find. Highly recommend it. Also had another favorite this weekend with a glass of Rock Hills Farm.
Random Saturday morning LLS stop. By luck, picked up a bottle of E.H. Taylor Single Barrel. Apparently it arrived yesterday. It really is damn good, but pricey and maybe a little overpriced. But, we're out of the city and up in the mountains this weekend, so perfect place to enjoy it.

Bookers was the first barrel proof whiskey I ever tasted. Only took one snort and I was hooked. That was almost 15 years ago. Having a glass of Elijah Craig barrel proof right this moment.

Was around 130 proof I think, so Cruiser, your endorsement makes me think it might be worth a shot. A lot of dough, but Beam should know a thing or too about special edition bourbons. The Mrs. also said she thought she needed to try it, so good chance I'll try and get there tomorrow. I'll update if I do.
Just scored a bottle of Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Very Small Batch. I know its probably not as good as the 17/18 year but anybody know how old this is and is it a good bourbon? I picked it up because I like bourbon and thought it was likely a great bottle. Is it? Decent price at $52.99?
I've never had any of the Jeffersons, although talked to a guy who had a bottle of the presidential reserve and he said it was every bit as good as the reviews.
The Mrs brought home a bottle of the Bookers 25th anniversary stuff, and it may be some of the best bourbon I've ever tasted. Now I'm no expert and I've never had normal Bookers, so take this for what it is worth, but this stuff is off the hook. And little to no burn for being 130+ proof, which surprised me. Liked it neat, but holds water exceptionally well too, did not diminish it at all. Tastes different from everything else I've had. Even at $100 I'd be tempted to buy another. I say worth it.
Just picked up a bottle of Barterhouse, so we'll see if that is worth the money. Anyone try it? Reviews have been mixed it seems.
Anyone tried the Four Roses Single Barrel LE? That worth it? I LOVE regular four roses small batch.
I just picked up a bottle of Four Roses OBSK from Davidson's in Highlands Ranch. They have OBSK and OB..... something else. It's a barrel select for that store. I will open it later and report back. I got talking skiing with the likker tech there who must be a maggot. He said he was headed up to ice mountain the next day. I failed to ask for change.Quote:
