I married my high school sweetheart, we were together nearly 25 years, had kids, she cheated on me, blah blah blah. I've dated a few women since then. Then I just shared my story of being an idiot (the only amusing part is how dumb I was) and falling into nostalgia as a cautionary tale for others. The backslide is very common and has for me provided good closure in a couple of instances and once I got kicked out by my exes roommate who started screaming at me when I tried to sneak across the hall to the bathroom. So I guess that provided decent closure as well.

I’m guessing there will be that moment with my STBE as well one day. Hopefully not in as spectacular of fashion as J, but who knows.

Well here's a slight twist after yesterday... via an introduction from a friend she talked to my ex and then forgave me and understands why / how I messed up. Wow, actual empathy, what a novel concept. TGR is definitely a "harden the fuck up / grow a thick skin" zone but always felt like this thread was supposed to be a little bit different, as it has been in the past by most of us participating here. Kudos to those of you who understand that.

I had sex with the ex once. It was the first Christmas post-separation and we tried to act like a family on Christmas Day with the kids by spending it all together. Longtime tradition included gin fizzes (might have contributed to the poor decision) with gift opening. When that was done the boys went for a skate or something and we were left to ourselves.

Next thing I know we're naked and she's on top, and I'm lying there thinking "I have no idea who this person is and this is fucking awful". True that, had mine done a few months after my third was born (although recent discussions of a reversal have been in play and I hear it really sucks and if anyone has experience I'd love to hear it). Buddy of mine, who isn't on this forum but has quite a few friends who are and will laugh if they read this, finally goes to get snipped after much debate or delay. Gets it done. A few days later his wife learns it was too late and she's pregnant again. lol... it was a blessing in disguise but somewhat hilarious at the time.

Most of us are quiet. But I'll drop this note here to remind you that we're not all judgmental. Contrarily, I have a rule I routinely preach to my kids-- Never judge love. Most people are just trying to be happy. Their choices might not be your choices, but they're doing their best.

I sometimes drop into this thread just to read what people are going through because my wife and I had a rough couple of years around 2017-18. We're great now, but stuff takes work. And that doesn't mean we're immune.

TRG is great for a lot of reasons. One of them is people I don't know, but respect somehow, calling me a whiny little bitch when I am one. Because I have been one around here.

I also like that you can all call each other fuckers and nearly throw punches but then sit down like bros at the bar.
