Mag chloride IS salt
It will only melt ice above about 16* or so. There are other products that will work in lower temps... usually mag with other products in it like corn biproduct if some sort

Understanding that unforseen issues could pop up (idiots, snowfall...) how is traffic heading westbound from Golden to Copper on Sunday mornings? I had planned to drive to Frisco Saturday night but may be stopping in Golden saturday evening and heading to Copper Sunday morning.

Joel Gratz hype train is approaching full speed on this storm. Sunday night drive back to Denver is gonna be dope.
One time I ended up stopped for an 1.5 hours on a weekday mid-day. It was enough local traffic that everyone pulled left or right eurostyle to keep a center lane open for tow trucks and cops and it even held for 20-30 minutes before assholes decided to clog it up into a 3 lane cluster. Eventually, after seeing no more emergency vehicles and seeing that there was no traffic moving from the I70 cams up the hill, I called work and said I wouldn't make it in, then backed down the I70 shoulder for 1/2 a mile to a turn around and was home in 20 minutes. Had I not, I would have sat there not moving for another 2.5+ hours (I was just barely past the Copper exit and there multiple jack knifes up Vail Pass, no injuries).Quote:

I often listen to the scanner for entertainment purposes during storms. The mutual lack of coordination and even basic information sharing between CSP and CDOT is comical. They themselves even make jokes about it with dispatch.
Looks like I’m in the honey-hole for this storm! Steamboat is in the bullseye.
