Best thing I have bought for my Yamaha is a "Track Pack" of screws and washers. I seem to lose those little fuckers like they are going out of style.

I had to drop the first side and put the top washer on. Completed the other side, took about an hour for the second one. Can't wait to feel it nice and tight.

Whob is sharpening windshield wipers? I've cleaned them up but never technically sharpening them.
An enginerd said to me one time that running sandpaper on the blade revitalizes the rubber and contact/removes glaze. Thought to myself, well why don't I just run them on ice then? But I generally try not to do that...
I feel like rejuvenating wiper blades would be a well-known/standard thing if it worked. Regardless, I'ma try it with some fine grit as I'm about to buy new wipers this month, anyway.
Speaking of quirks like this-- anyone ever put a copper penny on the battery between the posts to absorb whatever degradation usually happens to the posts? I used to do this on my old truck and I remember it working; the penny would degrade, and not the posts. Haven't remembered to try it recently.
Haven't had to hit that starter with a hammer either on my recent, modern vehicles. I also carried a long flat-head screwdriver to reach the carb jets when changing altitude.

Not exactly wrenching related, but used my Daytona low pro high lift in a unique way this weekend.
The 2nd hurricane bent this huge bougainvillea way out. Bent all the metal supports too.
I sunk 3 4x4's and concreted them in. Screwed in 2 SS eyebolts to each post and then used 2x4's with a small cut section screwed into the top in a T.
Wedged that sucker in there, against the thickest trunks I could find, and jacked it into position.

It worked, but I looked like I lost a fight to a wildcat. That damned vampire bush took 2 pints of blood I think.
Also not quite wrenching related.
Started the paint correction on the 2020 Raptor. Man, factory paint is garbage. This one isn't too too bad, but orange peel is about a medium.
Just did a total compound/ color correction, polish, and finished up with Griot's 3 in 1 ceramic wax which you apply with the correction pad.
Got about 90% of the swirls (damn car wash- I told her to stop using them) out. Just have some of the deeper scratches to tackle.

I did a test wet sand on a small area top fender with 1500 grit, then 2000 grit, finished with 3 and 5,000 grit, compound, polish, ceramic wax. Like a mirror.
I will slowly fix the semi shit paint, and then possibly do a real ceramic $$ job when the weather cools for good.
My Ford Quiver- For reference- the hood of the Bronco is fully wet sanded and buffed out. It has a mirror finish. This Raptor will look absolutely sick when it is done. The paint color (Lead Foot Grey) has a lot of depth once you get the mottled orange peel gone.

I rattle caned the hood of my 2000 TJ red and it looks perfect from 15 feet. Almost matches the body. Shines real nice when it rains. But it's a Jeep. Bar is low.

Drove it around for like 45 minutes just rompin around town. What a hoot this car is. Subframe bushings are a godsend, and the new steering bushing provides a direct feel to the road. The chassis shake over bumps is much improved with the strut brace. The shifter action is tight! Little more nvh through the poly steering bushing, but the car feels transformed. The e30 is such a fun car to drive.
Current setup is now,
Bilstein b8 and h and r springs, (not as firm as it sounds, but nice and controlled)
St sway bars front and rear,
Poly rear subframe bushings,
poly front control arm bushings,
Poly engine mounts and transmission mounts.
I was supposed to drop it at my dad's condo building where it will spend the winter, but after zipping around for a while, I decided I couldn't do it. I had to take it for a drive tomorrow. So, lunch time zip around town manana!
