Was just about to share. The thing looks great. Around here that will give the Defender buyers something to think about.

I'd get it over the Defender all day. You can't get spare parts for the Defender apparently. So if something breaks you're SOL. Curious if the 4 Runner gets a similar treatment stylewise.
I've posted about my brother in law's Defender 110 (2020 m/y) a few times here as it's been a curious experience from my view.
First the heated windshield, a very nice option in his part of the world, cracked. Couldn't get a new windshield until early 2022, which made for a very shitty winter for them.
Then recently, a rock cracked the headlight, he takes it in and turns out the whole headlight assembly has to be replaced. Which, once the part is available, is only $3,100.

My neighbor has a similar story re: availability/cost of parts with his, which is why I mentioned it. The platform hasn't been out long enough that folks like Atlantic British have 'em either. Add in that LR dealers by me are absolute pricks wrt dealer markups and no way am I touching one unless something changes.
Toyota/Lexus tends to use the same parts in multiple platforms and while it doesn't sound glamourous to have the same parts as a Tacoma in your Lexus, it sure helps on the availability side of things.
I had a buddy with one of the last Saabs (one of those reskinned trailblazers post bankruptcy) made, and he had to replace a headlight for like 2 grand, but this takes the cake. At least with the Saab the company was tits up so you kind of could understand the expense.
Not sure I like the design, however the grille has not completely taken over the front end, which is a nice change for Lexus. $80k will be in the same discussion as the Grenadier, which I think could be a market leader if their production and supply chain meets expectations.
You’re assuming defender buyers “think”….

Even as a Toyota fanboi, I think they're going way too robocop with the new trucks.
I used to have one of those before my buddy totaled it. . The 9-7X. It was a bit of a lemon but anytime I took it to the shop and told the guy it takes GM parts they were happy and repairs were cheap. The headlights are probably one of the only Saab parts, that and the center console ignition. Surprisingly nice interior but the engine was shit.

I was told to put this here…

But it’s still gotos ;)
Toolboxes on top of a fiberglass poptop is wtf .
I think they were on an adventure in placerville with the Oregon plated 4Runner that don’t know how to park. Gotta note that they were the cleanest cars in the lot.
Toyota USA has finally confirmed the recent rumors of the Land Cruiser coming back. The prevailing theory is that it will come on the same Prado chassis as the 2024 GX

I feel attacked in this thread. The GX is dope, but I hate that gold/black combo. The grayish one in the gearpatrol link looks awesome though.

Agreed. Seems like they used some heavy photoshopping for all those promo photos, but the gray definitely makes the angular lines of the GX look much better. Gold is just... too gold. I'm curious what they look like in real life; hopefully a little more subdued on the lines. That said, there's a new Sequoia TRD in our neighborhood and it's plenty angular/aggressively lined, doesn't look that bad in black though
New 4Runner, Prado, GX, Land Cruiser, LX, Sequoia, Tacoma, and Sequoia all share the same platform. Toyota profitability will be mooning.
Confused. What does “platform” mean? And what about tundra?
This made my night as a prior fj60, uzj100, and now j200 owner!!

Not to shit on the excitement, but if it’s the Prado platform with ring gears less than 9” then I’ll be pretty disappointed.
Isn’t the GX just a trim line of the Prado?
Toyota has made announcements of pushing forward with a hydrogen fuel ICE with the current focus in their track cars. I want a utility-focused LC powered by a hydrogen-fuel ice in a manual transmission.
I’m really really hoping for a 300 series and not a Prado/GX. But who knows…

As an LX apologist (former LX470 owner, current LX570 owner) I can understand looking at the LX600 as a much bigger rift than there ever has been between the LX and LC. Between the price and the front bumper roughly the size of Pangea, I think it’ll take longer than ever for people to start wheeling LX600s and maybe even longer for the aftermarket to start supporting them. You could probably make the argument that it won’t happen, given how viable the 200 series has stayed.
I read on Wikipedia that the Japanese version of the lx600 is available triple locked.
Thanks to mazderati for the info about the tnga. I had no idea.
A rising tide lifts all boats. The baseline for new Toyota trucks and SUVs is likely higher all around.

115 new HZJ79's fitted with anti-aircraft guns have just been delivered to Ukraine; 15 were funded through Czech crowdfunding. Sweet rigs: https://en.defence-ua.com/news/czech...army-4856.html
Minecraft paint job!
3 point. -1 for the shit tires.
Fuck Putin!
I kinda love that it's a war truck with a huge fucking gun mounted in it, and a tecnowar paint job but it still has turn signals, license plates and manufacturer badges.
Where else you gonna put your Czechvar?

Well it’s official now. Toyota kept the dimensions reasonable. IFS as expected. 2.4 hybrid.
