Crystal just put this video edit on their FB page a little while ago. Kind of a cool look at the aftermath of the C6 slide.

I wonder how they're gonna safely take the tension off the haul cable, there doesn't look to be any sag. Blow up the bullwheel?
OMG is right! Bummer.
This has been on the list for awhile and we were finally able to make a winter descent of Daniel happen on Tues. With little beta and the questionable avy conditions we agreed it was, at best, a 50/50 shot. Slushy, sketchy isothermic snow greeted us as we started to ascend. Less than optimistic, we agreed to proceed to the first ridge before pulling the plug. Pleasantly surprised by a cool breeze and what looked like a avy cycle from Sunday/Monday granted access to the summit. Wind buffed pow always beats out corn in my book

Over a few IPA's we were thinking Bon Nuit (the doggy) may have bagged the first K9 winter descent:wink:

Yeah, great call.
Also curious about approach. Sleds to TH? In and out via the basin north of Cathedral?

Current snowpack of 110" is slightly above average for the area. They're starting to clear on Mar 31, but it will take a few weeks minimum, likely opening early May. There will be skiable snow left in June, but quality remains to be seen (last year it never really consolidated, just turned into isothermal mush).
Aah,ok

Heads up for users of plates, inserts, etc in seatown:
Pacific supply co. on cap hill has an abundance of metric screws. Some appear identical to my worn out binding freedom ones. Variety of head shapes, styles, lengths etc. And cheap.
McLendons hardware in Woodinville for the east siders.
Stan's Merrymart in Wenatchee for the real east siders.
NmbrdDays was introduced to our fair lady Alpental on possibly the best day of the season. First day of spring, my foot!
Mission Ridge was firm and fast this morning with scattered clouds. However, chairs 2 & 3 shut down for about an hour around 9:45. After waiting for about 20 mins we saw several ski patrol bring down a litter with another patroller performing chest compressions on a guy in the sled. It took a while for the information to filter down but apparently a 47 year old skier from Seattle had a ski pop off and slid off the run into a tree. He was airlifted to Harborview in critical condition. +Vibes+
