Wow, is that 8.10 lbs for 192 GPOs?
I wonder if Praxis will be offering this lighter paulownia core as an option for customers in the future. I'd buy a carbon light GPO with the current rocker profile (with a little camber underfoot and the flatish tail) in a heartbeat as a pow touring rig.
All that was a bit confusing :rolleyes2
My GPOs both have some decent camber under foot and not so much tail rocker...or at least from the picture looks like not so much tail rocker. But a dbl rocker and lwt GPO? Hummmmm.......

From Praxis' blurb, it sounds like a GPO with a Powder Board rocker profile, which should be interesting, but why the paulownia core?Quote:

Pretty sure that's the wood ski logik uses. Damp and light. But pricey. Interesting. Praxis is good stuff and just scored karencito for $250. Looks like a bigger GPO from what I can tell. Rocker and taper is money on GPO
Here is my mini review of my setup:
187 Medium + standard layup.
Griffon Demo mounted -1.5 cm.
Dalbello Scorpion SR110 boot.
Skier: 6'2", 180 lbs naked/195 lbs with gear and boots.
Other skis I own and like: Movement Sluff 184 mounted with Tour F12 mounted slightly behind the line due to hole conflicts, Salomon Shogun 182 mounted with STH14 on the line, Rossi Avenger 82, K2 Seth Vicious 179 (first year with rocker) mounted with Head PRD12 currently set at +1cm from mid sole.
Mounting point: I do not ski very centered, I often like to lean on my boots to prevent getting bucked into the back seat in crud and chopped powder so I mounted slightly back from the dimple. This still gives a lot of tail compared to any other ski I have skied; however, the ski feels fine here driving forward, staying centered and I am able to get out of the back seat easily enough. Big sweet spot and very forgiving of technique issues, probably due in large part to the softer than stock flex I ordered. I could see better skiers moving forward to the line and possibly beyond, I would bet anything from -2 to + 1 cm will feel very similar to a lot of people and this is coming from somebody who is admittedly very sensitive to mount point hence three skis in my quiver with adjustable bindings
Ski conditions: very dense new snow (33-cm at Fernie on Jan 3) that had set up due to cooling and groomers that were frozen solid due to the previous day's positive temperatures and the freeze overnight.
On the new snow, tracked and chopped and soft bumps the skis were amazingly fun. I felt like I could let them run and purely pick my turns based on where I wanted to go and not about speed control. On the frozen groomers they sucked, mind you, these groomers were absolutely atrocious, probably the worst I have ever skied. Each pass the groomer took resulted in a different snow level, each with huge chunks ripped out of the pack and non-uniform ripples and waves, basically the worst possible conditions for evaluating any ski as it was pure survival mode. Some groomers were slightly smoother and the ski performed adequately but still not the conditions where I would want to lay over a new unfamiliar ski. Soft groomers did not exist so I need more time to evaluate the ski further.
Flex was fine. When I got the skis I thought they flexed very soft (much softer than anything else in my quiver) but they skied without the expected problems of a soft flex. They did not get deflected running over other tracks or hitting bumps. I imagine if I had wanted to ski these in more conditions stiffer would be fine. More time on them might change my opinion.
Finally got some turns on my short (182 carbon, medium-stiff, dimple mtn) GPOs today in soft snow. 8" or so at Crystal this morning. Skied till noon and barely had to cut a track for the first 1/2 dozen runs. Pleasant ski. Everything I had hoped for: stable, confidence inspring and will turn on a dime or slay some long high speed GS turns...doing either with ease. Soft groomers or knee deep in places and a nasty ice base under soem of the soft as well. Handled them all with ease and made the morning fun. Very please with the ski. No question now IMO that the centered forward dimple mount point is an "aquired taste". I liked the mount point on soft groomers...and never noticed the position. In the soft new snow I notice the forward mount. Gear I notice, at a minimum I find annoying. Jury is still out on mount point for me. I have longer GPOs and RPCs that should be a good comparison on same day, back to back runs.
gonna get my first runs on the governor and gpo this wknd!!. 192cm stiff/stiff carbon layout. mounted on the dimple. gonna go from 2ft of pow to tracked out resort. hoping it goes well....
Just read all 25 pages... wow.
Some thoughts:
- Demo/Schizo bindings are super useful.
- I used to drive the tips and now favour a more neutral stance, and can notice very small changes in mount point and have been moving mounts back until they feel weird, then move them back forward. I keep ending up further forward than I would have guessed at the start.
- I didn't like my 186 BG's from a few years back, but I think it's because I had them mounted too far back. YMMV.
- I love most of my rockered skis further forward for firm conditions, crud, and heavier powder, but often feel like I don't get the float I want in lighter and deeper snow. This is a bit frustrating and almost seems to be contrary to the point of rocker. Because of this I need more speed to get the tips up sometimes, which is the same thing I used to do on traditional skis. Seems like I shouldn't have to do that with rocker?
- Continuous rocker is amazing, but it's easy to overdo. I loved my Sickles (very gradual rocker) but did not like G3 Infidels that had a less gradual profile. The profile in that FB post looks a little too much to me... I'd be SUPER interested in this ski with a bit less of that continuous rocker, and a little bit of an increase in the rocker where the taper starts on each end. Like "eliptical continuous rocker" or something? But it has to stay almost no rocker throughout the sidecut length at the very least.
Anyone been on the GPO and the Bluehouse Maestro?
I love the Maestro, but the only thing I think it could improve on is a bit more width in the tip and less in the tail, which the GPO has... but I wonder if that takes away from the magic of the Maestro in all other situations.

By the sound of things, it is the rocker profile from the Powder Boards. This is actually quite subtle and gradual; less pronounced than for instance the Volkl One and Two, and much MUCH less so than the DPS Lotus 138.
I have not stopped loving my GPOs. Very happy with my mount point from anything from dust to 12".
Anybody been on the GPO and the HOJIs?? I am curious about the HOJI...mostly because I like to collect skis :D

My 192 GPO are mounted -1.0 or -1.5 ....pretty happy with the mount.
nd I further detuned them down to the red dot on the tentacle of one ski and the 'lateral knuckle of a tentacle' on the other ski. (See attached graphic). This made them far more directional and I'm happier than I had been. I think I went a bit too far down the ski with the detune but that can be fixed later on. So IMHO about 2 cm above the arrows for the detune should be ideal for me.

Keith put up next years GPO on the site for sale. Same as this year but he's offering it in the continuous rocker mold that Tabke is skiing on this year. Just bought a pair of 187 with the full rocker. Super stoked to get em.

Great to see Praxis offer a rocker/sidecut ski. With a lightweight option. I might just buy some next year.
