^^^^ good parenting right there! Just saying 'cuz I used to do the same thing and still do. :fmicon:
My 11 yr old competes in "B" freestyle moguls. Last week he had a good fall doing a 360 off the last jump of the course . Knocked the wind out of him. He eventually gathers himself and skis down. I ask how he's feeling. He says "Dad, it's a tough sport, sometimes you get hurt. I'll be ok."
Young Owen took a nut shot the other day. Hit a small tree right in the beans. He was skiing with girls so he didn't want to say anything. When I asked him about it he said he threw up in his mouth a little bit.
These might help us.

Ooof. When my kids played youth football we used to tell them that there were lots of video cameras, so if they got hit in the balls, grab their knee and we'll know what to do. Tell him that. You can't be rolling around hanging on to your boys in public.
Hasn't straddled a gate yet?
We just got done going through "Rise Up Singing" songbook. I think we did 20 songs. I'm helping him learn the flow of the songs he wants to play.
And we did Children of the Grave. Not in the book, but a great song.
We like the Devil's music around here.
classic bands like sabbath will get a kid realizing what music should sound like. play the beatles, stones, beach boys, allman brothers, when they're little and they'll know the difference between shit and shinola. I hope you have some bongos and drum COTG with him.
Lets do it. where are you guys? always up for a roadtrip. drop some knees with like minded people. one thing is for sure, in our family, no one ever says no to a ski trip on dad.
Here is a video of my youngest backslapping one at A Basin yesterday. came in kinda hot for my taste

First day on a snowboard.
actually got to slide behind him with ski trainer instead of walking. super fun. and i always pick him up for the bomb back to the lodge so he knows what "super DUPER fast" feels like.
Attachment 177416 Every parent's worst nightmare - seeing your name on a board at the top of a lift, then going to Patrol to see your 8-year old on a backboard. Luckily it seems to just be a mild concussion. He went a little big off a jump and knocked himself out.
I'll tell ya, the 5 and 6 year old little girls are railing!
Just turned 5 year old laid down a 23 and change on the bastardized run, carving and arcing her way to gold.
The 6 year old went out to Jupiter today for the first time. Pretty proud of herself.
And I'm proud of them both. We have a great time skiing together. Now just need winter to come back!
Damn, WMD...must have been terrifying, but I'm glad everything seems to be ok.

He finished 21 out of 50 in the FWT qualifier at Crested Butte. He said the winner threw a backie off a 20' to flat hardpack and skied away. His mind is blown with what some of these guys do. He got to hang with Lars and Silas who are Mad River Glen royalty.
my son came in 26 or 27th at CB,a girl i coached for several years came in 3rd in the ski the east junoir comp at sugarbush.hoping to get out to big sky to watch my son compete there end of march
glad he's OK!
MMP,he works at Copper, instructing,he is signed up to do the Taos comp.i know that feeling of your worst nightmare, when my son was 11 he hit the side of the base lodge at about 40mph sledding out of the halfpipe. at an employee party.didn't know it was him till i saw his sneaker on the snow just outside the group of patroller and ambulance crew that was on seen.this happened at about 9pm,he was unconcouis, and taken to the hospital,,he wound up with a fracture jaw, broken pelvisand 3 pins in his shoulder/arm,needles to say he hasn't gone sledding since.the almost 12 hours of waiting to see if his back was broken or any bleeding on the brain was the longest 12 of my life.
^^^Ummmm, that's not stoke . . . .hope he's back to the "kid stoke" stage . . .
jackson won the kids downhill at solitude sat. 2 runs. lowest combined time. his time would have placed him 3rd in the next age group. said he wanted to ski fast for his grandma who passed last thursday.

WMD: Yikes indeed. Glad to hear he's OK.
Here is The Creature's first appearance on TGR. She's 3 and has been up 3 days in the resort on her own skis. She straightlines it about 20 feet, falls over and eats a handful of snow. "Papa, pick me up pleeese." I grab her hand and then she lets her mitten slip off into my hand and she laughs and laughs and laughs. IF I got to ski a lot earlier in the week, I laugh and laugh and laugh..... :)
She's been out with us touring a bunch. We put her in the backpack carrier (Osprey Poco Plus, can't say enough good things about it!) and Papa gets a serious workout. Mellow terrain is the name of the game when a protective Mama-bear is back home in the den. At first she didn't like the speed.... Now she loves it and eggs me on. Can't wait to get the boy up, he's 7 months now.
