fly into calgary, lots of busses direct to banff. ski the banff area for a few days (ski norquay, sunshine, LL) Then day trip to Kicking horse, and panoroama (bus day trips from banff) and if you need to rent a car and do a few more days at kicking horse, and reve. BTW when heading out I typically overlook posts pretty quickly when ride shares are specific to people from Calgary since i'm in Banff and it assumes that a ride out is needed.
There is a bit of a wild card factor there too. I would hate to meet up with some random after saying how good the skiing is, only to have their ski ability be on the "wobbly" side and have them take a digger in to rock. Let's face it, there may be enough to ski on, but even a moderate speed fall is enough to break yourself on if you fall over in this stuff....not enough there for a cusion.Quote:

Skied Bow Summit today. It was not epic, but damn it felt good to get out there and make a few turns! Rogers next weekend.

Today round 2. We started by headlamp to get up there before the shit show. Ran in to Mex and Fatmike, (who as it turns out is not 6'2 and 250 lbs as his name would suggest) and joined for a lap.
Jillygoat and Sentinel sussing it out....just after they got to the bottom is when Mex rolled up.

By memory there were 25 other people that rolled in throughout the morning. Shit show. Sadly, damned near every one followed the uptrack to end up starting the day skiing the same totally hammered slope that was already beat down. I found it mildly amusing.

I know what you're saying about noobs though too. If you've got a solid base (possible, living in Canmore), why bother with them....
I tried my cousin on mountain climbing thinking he'd be good cuz he had climbing lessons and he's family etc. He was good on the rocks and all but I did all the route finding, with him second guessing me at EVERY step (even calling me out). Just a mega downer kind of day... some people just break down when it comes to the slogging. Anyway whatever Ill interview touring buddies at fucking KH or join the alpine club if thats what it takes. I'm getting old enough to realize that I might be running out of time to slay mountains. I gotta reverse course, learn how to ice climb and contribute something to biglines.
Added: maybe not the iceclimbing bit.... but I think the biglines thing is within reach. Observation peak's been done I think.. What about Mistaya?
