I'm in an 11.5 shoe and a 28.5 ZeroG. The fit is great for up and down, made better with Pro Tours over the stock paper thin liners.
That said I've been kicking around the idea of trying to drop 1 full shell size. If it wasn't Covid year I'd have gone through a new fitting by now.
Interesting data points, thanks. What Pro Tour did you go with Medium Volume? Also what benefit would you anticipate from sizing down, assuming you could maintain a comfy fit for all your use scenarios? Speaking of which, do those of you who size down use them in warmer conditions? My warmest use is normally Adams in July, so foot swell over the course of the season can be fairly substantial.Quote:

I needed a new T nut for the walk mode "catch" (the part that you flip to get an extra degree. Only way I could get one is ordering a WHOLE set of the walk mode (left and right). So just looking to make the t-nut at least cost me less than a resort hamburger
I had my first day on my Zero G Scouts today.
-I'm 195 lbs, 5'11'', 11 street shoe, sized to a punched out 26.5 Zero G Tour Scout.
Today was an inbounds, dust on crust day at Targhee (maybe 4-5 inches at the top, dusting at the bottom), ice/sun crust underneath everything. Crud setting up in places. Basically, the type of day where you definitely don't want a touring boot. I skied my new 190cm Moment Deathwish Tours and Voyager bindings.
I'm 100% sold on the boots. I can't believe how well they drive a bigger ski and hold up in chop. It felt very much like my Cochise Pro 130s. but obviously a bit less substantial because of the weight. I never wished for the boots to be stiffer, and they have a nice, natural, progressive flex that feels a lot like an alpine boot.
Thanks, Tecnica. This is the type of boot I've been dreaming about for the 12+ years I've been backcountry skiing. I'm blown away.

I’m the same height, even heavier than kevo, probably wouldn’t choose the scout as my inbounds boot but I’m blown away by how they walk and ski. Local boot guru has said that the flex rating tecnica reports is generally stiffer than the competition, I would agree from my anecdotal experience skiing them over the years (skied a pair of exp’s into the ground in college, a pair of Cochise a few years ago.) I know two other guys skiing these boots who, like me, ski rx/rs 130 in the resort and I haven’t heard any complaints from them on skiability.

I'm street shoe 9 and 26.0 on B. device, skiing the 26.5 with no mods other than using some beefier Scarpa liners (saving the lighter factory liners for long days). Great AT boot, but the 2017+ Cochise is still a lot more boot if someone is looking for a burly 50/50.
I usually ski a 28.5 alpine boot, but a 29 or 29.5 touring boot. I initially had 28.5 OG TP but had to size up to 29.5 to get big toe and fore foot room. I tried punching for more length, but no go. I found even in the 29, I had to punch for little toe and metatarsal width. These are quite narrow out of the box, even for normal to narrow feet. Mine are narrow. Size for length, then punch for width. I’ve had two rounds of punches for forefoot pressure and have finally dialed it in. Can’t see how people are downsizing.Quote:

I've got a few days on my Pros and so far I'm pretty happy with them. Somehow I chewed up the hook side of the lower toe buckle (the part that the buckle wire hooks on to). Are these replaceable? They look like they are attached with a rivet and I can't find a source for replacements. My boot fitter at the shop wasn't super helpful.

I rode the factory liners for a season and then sprung for new intuition MV pro tours in the same shell size. Intuition said to use an LV @ same shell size when using a footbed but since i needed to shim the footbed in the factory liners to get my foot at the best height in the shell I went for the MV to take up the few mm and its worked out perfectly. My custom insoles are thin compared to SOLE. I had tried the tour wrap liners in the same shell size but it was almost impossible to get my foot into the shell and the ROM sucked. I'm really happy with the pro tour, supportive, no slop or hot spots and significantly warmer than the factory liners. I did get the liners molded using an oven and not the blower so the they really molded well to the shell and my foot.

I think it all depends on what you’re “comfortable” with. Like I said I wear a 13 and ski the 28.5 with no length work. I have fucked up heals so I have to to a heal width grind and I punch for my first met and 5th met tuberosity but other than that just mold the liners. If you’re used to wearing tight boots and don’t plan on doing any really long tours then I’d size them as you would your alpine boots. If you’re doing longer tours and want more wiggle room and don’t care as much about performance then go up from your normal alpine size. I’d be interested to hear the folks coming from Scarpa/La Sportive/Dynafit have found the sizing compares.
How long are these boots lasting for you guys?
I've done maybe 160 or so days in mine now, maybe 60% lifts and 40% touring, and they are very beat. The cuff moves a lot on the rivets that make the pivot point and connect it to the lower boot. The walk/ski mode is very ratchety and most buckles have lost their spring. None are completely broken though.
No mods except booster strap. Also never used to stock liner, first a Dynafit One liner and then an unused liner from a Salomon MTN Lab I had (which is definitely on its last few days too).

going into season 2 now, boot still looks really good. But I only use it to tour, ca 50 days a season?
If I'd need one boot for 60/40 lifts/tour I'd probably pick another. But that is just me.
93 days now over 2 seasons. About 20 inbounds and the rest touring. They're so light that I am concerned but no issues so far especially re play which I thought would be a big concern.
Got some Atomic HawX 130 which I'll use for inbounds so that'll spread out wear
Assuming they fit, are these a pretty solid compliment to a beefier inbound hybrid like the xt3? So far those are skiing well inbounds for me @150lbs 5'10. Wondering if it's even worth getting true alpines anymore at my weight and height.
Cuff rivets and Walk mode are all replaceable parts. Takes someone with a rivet press to repress the cuff rivets. Walk mode is an easy replacement as well.Quote:

Size 10/9.5 street shoe currently running 26.5 zero gs. Love the boot so far- thinking of swapping in my tour wraps as I’ve been fairly unimpressed with the stock liner as well. I got the boots used (5x) and feel pretty ‘swimming’ in the toe box after 3-4 hours sweating in them on the uphill. Currently running black superfeet and haven’t yet molded the stock liners

Yup. My foot measures about 27.25 long, and ~110mm wide on a Brannock. I can ski a lot of low volume 26.5 boots with no/minor shell modification with a good custom footbed.Quote:

Just got new zero gs yesterday, very happy with fit! Ive got a 282mm foot both sides, normal to low width, low volume and medium arch. In 27.5s ZGTP with maybe a 15mm-20mm shell fit. Width is perfect, heel hold is much better than my previous hawx XTD 27.5, and forefoot volume much better than Hawx. Length feels same as same shell size Hawx, ankle and calf feel a bit lower volume than Hawx. Pretty impressed with the stock liner! My moderately worn pro tour MV fit about the same as the stock liners, and are ~50g heavier with superfeet carbons compared to stock liner + stock insole. Heel hold might be best of any touring boot ive tried on, out of the box. FWIW I ski LV mach1s IB, so I might just have a tecnica foot.
27.5 boots are 1450g with intuition pro tour MV + superfeet carbon, 1410g with stock liner + stock footbed, no laces and no spoiler.
Overall very impressed, cant wait to ski em.
On my third season on these and overall they are the best boots I've ever had. The buckles are kind of finicky and break easily but not a deal breaker. But just realized I now have a ton of play in the cuff rivets. Can anything be done about that? Wish I had realized it in the off season when I could have tried to see if Tecnica could do something about it, but now I dont want to be without them for weeks (even though we barely have any snow...)

I had Tecnica press the rivets which has loosened on a pair of Cochise's a few years back. Worked great and never loosened up again. They just put them on a press and recrimped them. If you have a good boot shop around, they can probably give yours a squeeze. I'm in Scout's (2nd year) and have recently modded them with a stiffer touring liner that was foamed by Heierling in Davos for the old Cochise's . Use a Superfeet Carbon insole. Makes them a bit heavier, flex-wise okay on the up, but gives the downhill performance a major boost. I can still run the stock liner on longer tours if needed.Quote:
