TR; this last weekend at Bridger

Yeah, we'll lose some of the sidecountry we have now, but I see a lot of positive from it. Right now we have quick access to Slushman's and more of a commiting hike for Saddle, Bostwick, and Truman. With the new lift up everything will be relatively accessible--you could probably even boot over and do Saddle in alpine gear depending on where the bottom station is. I think the new lift will open up a lot more possibilities than it closes, and it will alleviate the insane pow day crowds in-bounds to cap things off. I, for one, can't wait to get out on the north side of No Name on alpine gear that won't break!

It was certainly alleviate pressure on the rest of the mountain. Spreading people out will help the pow stick around longer and will hopefully cut down the nuts to butts train heading up the ridge.

Couldn't manage to slow down for picks in the brief windows of bluebird, but I did get one of MT in Stupor.

so luke you stepped up and hit that drop in stupor... nice. Wish I was there to see it. I'll get some pics of Lexi up when I get home tonight. Great snow, thigh deep blower in spots but it was getting a little warm and heavy when I took off at 1:30.

I can't believe its April 1st. Looking back through this thread, snow quality has been fantastic for at least 4 months now.

We had originally planned on heading to D route, but skier's right on the Nose was untouched. Some dude skied by and mentioned that it looked "yummy" which summed it up... it a creepy sort of way.

Second Hike we headed for a short one so we could spin another lap. The tree between Keith's and Kanzalers served up the goods. Dan headed down a tight line between a few trees as I clamored onto buried tree top to hit this short / steep straightline. The picture barely get the exit but it was goood.

Hey BDR and/or MT.

How do you guys like the Phazers? Do you feel they have enough power and track length for deeper powder? Are these the 500cc and 14"x144"x2" models? Can you tow easily on these sleds? Any maintenence issues?

Need to replace one of my sleds and am thinking a 4 stroke, lighter sled with reverse might be nice.

You guessed right on the model type for the Phazers. They've been running great so far. There are definitely some days where they just don't have the nuts to get up very high if the snow is super deep. I think they're great if you're ok with parking someplace semi mellow and skinning from there. If you like getting real rowdy on your sled, obviously the 500's just can't get it done. But they're great for riding pow on gentler slopes, and they can climb plenty high when the snow isn't too deep.

Most of the towing I've done with them has been on pretty flat terrain to get to skin tracks, usually on hard-packed roads where they don't have any trouble. The little towing I've done with them in soft snow going uphill has taken a bit more effort. They can do it, but it's nothing like an 800.

Some nice perks are the fuel economy, electric start, the reverse button, and the much quieter brap.

Oh, and they're actually my dad's. All I can afford is the shitty two stroke that's pissing oil all over my garage.

Went up solo today. Skied Nasal Cavity off the High T for the first time, then lapped the Flippers which were skiing quite well. Gotta love that SW wind filling things in and keepin it soft!

Some of the best spring conditions I've seen, stoked!

Good beta on the Phazers -- I meant to ask about those as well. Definitely been resisting the urge to buy one.

General question for the Bozeman crowd: how much will owning a sled improve my life? Are they worth the hassle?

I'd have to agree, but it is a very selfish answer.

Having a sled would be really nice for the north Bridgers or a couple places up Hyalite, but other than that it doesn't do you a whole lot of good around here. If you have money to burn and want a few more friends it's not a bad route to take, but I've been doing just fine without one. If you're planning on heading up to Cooke City, on the other hand....that's an entirely different story.

Bridger sold out? Gonna be the next super resort? Don't all you people know there's a super volcano up the road thats gonna blow any time now.

PB atrocious garbage? Steak and cheese was good last summer, not as good as remeber though.

Ok, maybe not flames, but still. It actually sounds like the developers could have gone through with it if they wanted, but had the intelligence to realize their plan was not wanted or welcomed by the community. Pretty surprising behavior for developers.

The whole bar thing, stiff drinks and old west flavor think Livingston saturday nite. As well as eateries of more consistency. Colorful outspoken induviduals as well.



I did sled in Island ranges(go to ridge and look east and west),Cooke,West, Gallatins for seasons as well. Now hyalite is closed and it seems N.Bridgers is developing a scene. I'd say drive 50 miles to preferred areas and explore with sled and have a ski zone to yourself. If you want to explore. Think wilderness boundry in popular sled zones. Literally no ski traffic ever. For starters.

4000 miles snowmobiling.
500 days Bridger.
50 days Lost Vail,Disco,Big Sky,Moonlight.

Have you read the last 2 paragraphs in that article, I almost vomited. Last time I checked Bridger is a Non-profit and doesn't need a base village so that some fat cat can wipe his ass with franklin...

Today didn't suck very much. In fact, I'd even go as far as to say it was pretty good. I have a couple pictures for those of you who don't believe me. We (Myself, Jeremiah Bullfrog, and a girly) started out the day doing High T laps on Phone Booth, Nasties, etc. Then we met up with a guy named Ben (you're e-famous now), and I took pictures of him because I'm gimpin' and....well, he's mo betta than me.
