A silly motorcycle TR.
I woke up to sunny skies and the thought I may have to go for a ride on this...
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/e96e54e7.jpg
Upon closer inspection I found I indeed needed to ride the machine above.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/e96f2360.jpg
Fortunately I looked right and found this critter pointing south.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...0/e96eea31.jpg
Immediately I knew I needed to disregard any responsibility I may have to my yard and follow a different path...
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...7/e96e8741.jpg
So I set off only to stop about thirty miles south to admire the California side of Topaz Lake.

Obviously there were others who needed to mow the lawn.

A stop in Walker California to honor the fallen air tanker pilots who died fighting the Walker fire.

Sunday traffic through Walker Canyon.

Turning into the twisties from Hwy 395.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/e96f36dc.jpg
Pretty sure there is a road up there somewhere.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/e96f36cb.jpg
I hope they are not using live ammo up yonder.

This is where we unload the sleds in winter.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...5/e96f369b.jpg
Sweet.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/e96f35b6.jpg
I must figure out a way to carry my skis.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...4/e96f3537.jpg
Topped out. Pretty cold. A girl in a mini skirt pulled up right after I took this pic. She bent over to pick up her dog and I saw her bottom. Sorry no pics.

Coming down the West side looking back up from whence I came.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/e96f33f7.jpg
The descent. More twisties to come.

I am sure I do not like this person. I am certain I do not like the ten people in front of him.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/e96f32a3.jpg
I had no way to carry the fence otherwise it would have been mine!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/e96f328c.jpg
Stopped at the Sonora tourist info place letting the critter rest. Get feeling back in hands.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...0/e96f31ef.jpg
What the heck is up with this road?
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/e96f30f6.jpg
I guess they were tired of folks careening into oblivion.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/e96f314d.jpg
In retrospect, a swim would have been nice.

After a bag of Doritos and a Monster energy drink in Murphy California, it's back into the hills.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/e96f3006.jpg
Just a hop, skip and a jump over the hill.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/e96ee88c.jpg
After some spirited riding I decided to check out the Local ski hill Bear Valley.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...4/e96f2f28.jpg
Same stop looking East-ish.

Next stop Lake Alpine...
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/e96f2e75.jpg
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/e96f2e5d.jpg
More Lake Alpine just 'cause its purdy.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...1/e96f2d29.jpg
Darnit! Not more steep windy roads!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/e96f2d1c.jpg
Almost topped out and out of obscurity.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/e96ee94c.jpg
A couple shots of the home stretch.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/e96f2702.jpg
Try to stay on the road.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...f/e96f260c.jpg
Rolling into the booming metropolis of Markleeville.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/e96f25c9.jpg
Almost home. My Wrists were sore. My back was frozen into some stinkbug position. My fingers were numb.

To celebrate a successful double traverse of the mighty Sierra Nevada range I figure I would stretch Bonnie out to her first "Ton" Obviously not done while taking action photos.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/e96f2497.jpg
A right turn ahead and we are home.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/e96f2486.jpg
Bonnie tucked in for the night.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/e96f2413.jpg
Now on to the next task.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/e96f23fa.jpg
Ok it's fake beer but it tasted good. The tri-tip sure was tasty.
Hopefully you enjoyed my lazy Sunday TR. Bonnie ran great and I did not re-jet.
MF
Sweet bonnie stoke! no problems at altitude ?
Bring this to the padded room or tech talk or something. You're shitting in your own sandbox. This is not snow related.
Of course you can revert to neutral without a clutch and without stalling. Your timing must be precise. but it's not that tricky. (Well, maybe not with a Buell, I don't know... A Buell has no business commuting in town anyway). But I can see it becoming rather tedious after a while :D
Oh, and nice bonnie !
Nice TR Eastside! Beautiful country out there.
Well, I didn't buy it TO commute, but I happen to commute on the bike I bought.... understand where I'm coming from??
Finding neutral on an open road where you have plenty of room to slow down and fuck around is one thing, hoping you can find it in the next 5 seconds (before the end of the block) is another.
And yes, Buell Trannies suck - they're meant for huge hogs, not sportbikes.
I do understand and wasn't arguing against your clutch issues / fixes.
Rather reacting to the 'finding neutral without a clutch... lol' line ot thought : It vastly unconvenient, but it's doable.
I'm a bike commuter too and, of course, couldn't imagine doing it without a clutch.
Anyone on here riding a Yamaha V Star 650? I was thinking of purchasing one as a first bike. Thus far my experience has been limited to a Honda Rebel 250 during the Basic Rider course.
I do like www.americansportbike.com -- here's why:

On may 10th I ordered the Hydraulic Clutch Kit: For Tube frame series (96-02, XL engine based) from you guys -- order #ORD200705104 It arrived great, installed great, and then I thought I saw a leak in the slave cylinder bleeder valve area. i accidentally overtightened that valvestem and promptly stripped the damn thing right out of the slave. Is it possible to ONLY order a replacement slave cylinder? All other parts are fine, but I don't think I can tap a larger hole in it and subsequently find a larger bleed valve.... Please let me know what you advise. Thanks! Please hurry, the weather on the East Coast is gorgeous right now!! -Tippster

Tippster,
I sent one out today. Be more careful this time. ;)

I love how you ride with sneakers and shorts, but bother with knee guards and full motocross chest (!) and back protections.
Real smart. And so steezy.
Hey now, the boots are on order.. and we were just ripping around a gravel pit. I fall DH biking all the time without pants. I dont know about you but when I crash DH biking I normally land on my arms or knees. Sometimes on my face.
Sorry asshole, next time I'll ride ass naked, if wearing arm/leg/chest protectors offends you without proper boots.
I'm not offended, just amused. and I don't crash anyway.
But motorcycle and MTB are different. Ankles are badly exposed on a motorbike. Badly. Just like the hands BTW.
Any one here ride a Honda 919 (CB 900 Hornet)? Or know anything about them?
I want a stand up bike with good performance, not a crotch rocket, and not a super strict maintenance schedule.

That's a nice naked bike, and cheaper than a Buell or Ducati Monster (its competition.)
GoNads: I'd ride naked before I rode without gloves. Just sayin'.
You forgot the Triumph Speed Triple...my personal favorite. I lust after this bike

I've heard a lot of good things about the 919...haven't actually ridden one myself, so I can't really offer much of an opinion.
finally joined the club,
just picked up my first moto for a paltry $1700.
