Sissies.
The skiing at Mission yesterday was still great despite the sleet and freezing rain. Visible was hit or miss due to fog and rime on the goggles.
We’ll see what today has in store later

Yup, everything was totally creamy and runs were open because everyone left at 11. I need to renew my dwr.
It looks like a Zamboni drove through Stevens Pass.

Fellow mag Leo from Zurich is showing up.
I'm hosting him for a few days and he's interested in touring.
I'll cover the Crustal BC but is there anyone else on the West side willing to show him around either Snoqualmie or Stevens? A ride from Monroe up to Stevens for him would be great.
^When? I probably wouldn’t venture into avalanche terrain anywhere near the crest for a while. I’m a risk averse weenie though
Rain corn was pretty decent at Mission yesterday during a brief lull in the showers

Hey B I for sure can @snoq pass, Stevens will open ??? Hopefully with a refresh over the next few days.
Over the course of the next week. In about a week, he's headed up Chelan to do some touring out of Lucerne.
Thanks for the wise word of caution, I'm similarly averse.
Cool, I'll be in touch. Current plan is to head up to Alpy tomorrow w/Leo and #1 thing provided I get enough sleep. I can cover some lift deals for him, others would be appreciated I'm sure.
I would guess things will be locked up and stable by next week except for the new snow later this week

I mean this coming week, like tomorrow through Saturday or so.
I meant for his trip to Lucerne

My duh.
Anyway, check this out:
Particularly, low after low tracking across the PNW, down into Cali and onto the Rockies: https://youtu.be/aHrtMXYekss?t=340
Happy to help be tour guide at Stevens Thurs and potentially Friday.
Sounds good - PM me if that coincides with his plans

Leo from Zurich is a good dude. He graciously allowed MoFro and me to crash at his flat on our way back from the mountains in 2019. He's a good skier and an upstanding citizen. Architect iirc.
He reached out to me several weeks ago about skiing together in the PNW during his visit and we had roughly penciled in January 1st and 2nd, with specifics TBD once the date was near and the weather/snow more certain.
We had discussed the rough plan of skiing Alpy via buddy pass one day, and touring the other.
But I've been in Montana for two weeks and will return to the area on the 31st with zero familiarity with the snowpack and no chairlift time yet at Alpental... so I may not make the best tour guide for our foreign friend.
Perhaps we could gather a small crew for those couple days, so I can at least see the guy without being the Gaper-in-Charge.
What he does is up to him, of course. I'll be lookin to ski those days regardless.
See y'all soon.

Leo got in late, so we're likely skipping skiing today. If the lots aren't full we may do an afternoon sesh.
Will update.
The greenwater gun and social club skied quite well today . Zero crowds except for a moment after 6 opened . Lots of debris off powder bowl, bear pits and cambell basin . Low angle skied the best .. super fun morning …

Seemed more like 8-10 on firm

Not bad a few days after a huge rain event. Thankfully seems to be bonding well with the crust, I didn’t see any natural activity today.
