Thanks for for the headsup. Anyone else notice shipping was pricey?

I suppose you're right. There are some HUGE whales on patsy's and sky meadows.
I get that they make a ton of money off the gondola. The site seer traffic on the day Tamarack was down until 2:30pm was in the thousands. But it seems to limit their ability to stay open every day. In the past six days, they have been closed for 2, closed early one, and didn't allow skier traffic until 2:30pm on day. That is two normal operating days.
The parking situation is attrocious.
Best spot in SLT area or kirk for a tune? I’ve got some skis with some pretty beat edges that i just love too much and need a miracle worker. Just moved and dont have my tuning kit out here. Or anyone who would help me out for a case of beer?
Kirkwood not cheap but they use wintersteiger. Have to leave base tune overnight.
Yeah, I bought a bunch of their snow study tools. Shipping was $16 for about 6 small items. The whole order still ended up being a lot cheaper than I could have done otherwise.
Hopefully the order goes through (my CC did get charged, which is good). In the Gear Swap thread people are saying that they're getting emails saying it'll be a week to process the orders.
Several inches up top at Squaw. Only Gold Coast but they opened the traverse so a lot of terrain to poke around in and little features to hit. Not bad at all.

I’d chose KW or Rose base on base elevation. They will both be operating top to bottom.
Squaw upper mountain will likely be in good shape.
These next few storms will get some snow to the base of Alpine and Squaw, but it will still be pretty thin. After this week KW should be good to go on the frontside.
Not sure how Sugarbowl is fairing at the base. They are a little higher than the basin resorts.
6 inches of mostly cement at KW. Great base snow! Nuking at Mormon immigrant. Temp 30 at the resort.
Fluffy cold snow just started.
Edit: took a chance it would get colder today. Foggy and wet. Too risky. Hope tomorrow be better.
Coverage is excellent. All lifts can open soon.

Mammoth tho...
Any mags have a suggestion for where I can get a camper shell painted CHEAP in Reno or Carson? Bought a cheap camper that I put on a literally free 90's toyota pickup - looking to spend as little as possible.
Rose was lame this morning... only kc open and patrol working hard to rope off any fresh snow. Will probs get up each morning this week, then the wood this weekend
Just reading about the new Squaw paid parking strategy (AKA carpool strategy). https://squawalpine.com/explore/more...g/?tab=ui-id-2
What an epic cluster it will be when the first pow weekend arrives with the billion new Ikon pass holders that don't know half of the parking has disappeared!
Gazex firing on Echo pass? Seems like odd timing since it hasn't been snowing for a while. Maybe just testing them out in anticipation?
89 and Squaw Valley Rd will be a phenomenal shitshow the first couple of major ski weekends as people try to figure it out. By midseason should be running smoothly, meaning it it'll be back to the normal shitshow from the past few years. Given who the Ikon pass was sold to and marketed to, $30 will not be enough of an incentive to get people to carpool. I mean, that's only 2 beers with tip at Rocker...
Even if people figure it out, there will still be an extra delay as people wait to deal with an attendant to enter the lot, and there will still be a lot of empty spaces, so people will be spending more time circling around the free lots. They say it's 800 out of 5000 available spots, but I'm not buying that math. I'm thinking most weekdays will now be like weekends used to be, and weekends are going to be an entirely new level of shitshow.
Oh well. It’s snowing. Weekends are for non Epic/Ikon resorts or backcountry anyway... should provide some good entertainment however.
Exactly, that was pretty lame

In other news, the Clear Creek Trail was the best I've ever experienced today, and I've prob ridden it 75 times.

Seems like a lot of the people frequenting the businesses in the village are pretty pissed about this too. People don't just go to squaw to ski - there's yoga, stores, restaurants, all sorts of stuff. I would imagine that the non-squaw owned business that had customers traditionally parked in the now paid lot would be pretty pissed about this as well. I live in the valley and often run into places like mountain nectar for something quick before I head off somewhere - i'm way less likely to walk across an empty frozen parking lot to grab a breakfast sandwich now. First world problems, I know, but this sucks for them.
I'd also been seeing some of signs of hope that adults are now in charge of the place with Alterra staffing getting filled out, but this seems like a major idealistic KSL move that is premature (w/out transportation adequately figured out) and creating more problems than it's solving.
I just hope people that share my opinion are finding ways to voice this to the resort management, and not just to each other on the internet. I know KSL told ya to go pound sand but couldn't hurt to give it a shot with new folks in charge.
In other news turns were creamy and fun up by donner summit this morning. Feels damn good to be skiing real snow again.
Just go to coffee bar!
I mean I get it... For the last few years they had a smaller area for carpool parking and it was only really enforced in the mornings on big days iirc. Without barricading off an entire pissing lot how are they supposed to make sure you see the closed signs! This is squaw after all they need to make that as obvious as possible.
But yeah seriously what a pain. A little too much parking and in an unconvenient area to boot. To be fair you can park in there at night or probably early morning without being hassled. Also they bought a fleet of stretch golf carts (though I think only for the POW lot) so that's nice.
