Can anyone confirm the drill bit size required for the Salomon QST Blank? I’m having trouble finding if it has a metal mounting plate. I think it’s just ABS under foot. There’s nothing printed on the ski and I can’t find anything on Salomon’s website.
Blister lists it with a titanal binding plate underfoot: https://blisterreview.com/gear-revie...omon-qst-blank
The marketing copy on nearly every online retailer says titanal reinforcement under binding area. Looking at the holes left from the previous binding, that appears to be the case. I’ll start with the 3.5 to be sure.
Yup. It does say titanal reinforced under foot on the website. So go for it.

Use a 4.1 for titanal and carbon so the screw shaft can slide through the hole without pushing out on the topsheets.
Thanks for the help everyone.
listen to that man above you
and buy your mounting equipment from him

No pictures, but id just like to give a shout out to my HF angle grinder. Had a second set of OG STH CAST plates i was mounting up over the weekend and thought for sure the plates were bent. Nope, im an idiot and it turned out nearly all the screws were like 1-2mm too long, and i was also missing one of the heelpiece screws. No problem, just fire up that angle grinder and after dodging sparks in my pajamas and safety squints for about 15 minutes i had a whole set of proper length screws and a dead simple mount job.
Next up this week or next weekend is mounting an undrilled set of Mfree108s with a similar STH CAST setup with my "good" pair of STH16s. The other pair has a good amount of play in the heels. Anyone figured out the fix for that BTW?
hey y’all
I’m doing my first ever Dynafit mount this week - Rotation 7 with Scarpa Gea boots. I’ve got the Jig-A-Rex plates for the mount. Anything I might not think about or is this a super straight forward mount?
If your toes end up out of alignment, don't stress. You can find better instructions here, but you can loosen all the toe screws, clip the boot in and use it to align the toe, and tighten all the screws to keep it in alignment.
Wait....are you moving to the dark side? It took me about 30 years before I finally did. ;-)

I’ve been fixed heeling a lot the last 4 years for patrol, but I still tele. This mount is for my girlfriend, though.
It’s pretty straightforward, but yeah, put the boot locked in before you fully tighten the front toe screws so that you get the alignment as good as possible.
Nobody cares that you tele..
