I am sure some of you remember the Morningstar Rim Rench’. Paul was quite the story, eh?

I have tried for well over a decade to get my hands on one. I even bought a shitty copy that broke after three uses 6-7 years ago. I saw the Wolf Tooth one when it came out but never pulled the trigger. Being connected to a tire lever ruined it for me for some stupid reason. Anyway, I stumbled on this thing last week.

I still have alloy rims on more than 50% of the fleet, so it's useful. The adjustable wrench will have to wait its turn again.

^why did it being on a tire lever ruin it for you? I have one in the shop and we all love using it, works great every time.

Granted, that sledgehammer tool does look cool and I'm a sucker for super official looking tools haha

Yet they didn't spring for the $100 Packout dolly.

Relevant to my bike tools, because I do use a Packout box for the "goes along to the trailhead or bike park" kit.

I'm not going to add up what I've spent in total, though, but I will say that it's really nice to have stuff handy and organized so I can say "I need these two boxes at work tomorrow" and put them in the truck.

I bought the cordless screwdriver that used the same battery last week. The battery lasted 1/4 as long as I had expected. The charge port is on the battery itself. I'm assuming the charge circuitry takes up a bunch of space in the battery leaving little for the lithium polymer. I'm not impressed.

I also have one of their 18V handheld compressors. It's awesome.

Yeah even the nicer 12V Milwaukee one that I love for bikes really struggles with car tires. It does eventually get there, even to 80psi in my RV, but it runs for SO long that I fear it will melt.

Has anyone tried one of the cheaper ones to go over 100psi? I have a specific use case for the Tubliss on my motos.

The 18v Makita I have does fine with car tires. Just takes longer than the one that hooks up to the battery. I've only pumped it up to 9o psi or so so can't speak to higher levels than that.

I've had no issues with 18V getting up to 100psi or inflating car tires. My little inflator which is probably either 7.2V or 12V can get up to 100psi but the last little bit takes a while. I think it'd take quite a long time on a HV moto tire. I think you'd be stressing the shit out of a 4V 2AH inflator which anything that's high volume and or high pressure. Let's be honest, those are designed for soccer balls and kids bikes.

The Tubliss system uses an inner tube that's about the size of a road bike one, so minimal volume. The outer tire can then be whatever pressure you want, from 0 on up.

I have a knockoff Viair type inflator that can get a truck tire to 80 psi without an issue, but I haven't tried going past that. Amazon has a bunch of these.

Update. The screwdriver was so bad I returned it. It couldn't even meet Ryobi expectations, how fucking depressing is that? I wouldn't have high hopes for the compressor.

On this topic I bought the 18v Milwaukee inflator on a whim one day and it has turned into my most used tool. It will do 120psi for road tires or whatever pretty easily, and will do 80 PSI for HD truck tires with a little time. Never worried about it melting, it does use batteries sort of fast though if doing car tires.

This is my daily driver. I bring it on bike park weekends and have a fan for the dog on the same batteries.
For reference, I use it to inflate my AirShot to 120-130psi no problem.

The Wheels MFG axle cone guage is pretty rad, I hate figuring out thread pitches n such. Glad he mentioned the simple ruler right after, just ordered that, only $10 on their site. Also have had that Sram piston spreader on item reservation on QBP for a while, used that somewhere before and it's quite awesome.

One of the pro athletes I look after is sponsored by SRAM, every time I send part numbers to SRAM I add the Pad Spreader in the order, and never get it. Either its been out of stock, or specific tools are not available on this Pros allotment.

That was way more reasonable than I expected. Aside from the Abbey truing stand and the unnecessary axle sizing guide, I could see a shop owning must of that stuff.

Left my travel tool kit at the campsite and now have to replace some stuff.
Hex T-Handles: Go with the standard Park 2-10mm kit, or Wiha soft grip kit?

the park tool t handles are still my favorite, I use the spinning part more than I thought I ever would. Plus the strip-gripper tip has come in handy.

I used the wiha ones in the Sram class I just took, wasn't that big of a fan after being used to the park tool.

I ended up going with the Wiha P-Handles. I like the soft grip. Feels somewhat like the Bondhus screwdriver style hexs I love.

That new Fix Manufacturing torque wrench that goes from 2-24Nm looks nice.

I was just reinstalling a shock and needed 20Nm but my 1/4" bike wrench only goes to 15 and my only other torque wrench is too big to fit in the necessary space...so I just took it to 15 and then pushed a little harder :jesus:
