don't be greedy. we need it.
Where are you getting those figures?

Not Vail/BSB but it was fine at BC:

Awesome storm cycle to be at the Eiseman hut though the wind really made the snow dense and difficult to turn in places.
Just got out of the woods and haven't had a chance to look real in depth at the latest forecasts, but the unsettled pattern looks to continue into next week :D
it is F-ing COLD

I think that color over Wolf Creek probably means that it's going to dump there.
NOAA finally dropped the Winter Storm Warning for the northern mtns. Originally, they were calling for 8"-18". On a SW flow?! Gimme a break. I said yesterday we were going to get 5". Looks like I'm right in the ballpark on that prediction.
Does Vail Resorts pay the salaries of the forecasters at NOAA?;)
even CAIC said earlier that Vail/BC did well with a SW flow....the Beav does ok, but it is usually skunksville at Vail. Not bad this time, little refresher.....I'lll take it.
Kinda bummed. We shoulda got more up here outta this SW flow, but only a few inches. A little bit is better than none though.
Wow, that heat wave was unexpected... came out of nowhere. 4am it was -8F and at 1pm today it was 33F
Incoming system looks pretty awesome for SWCO. Score seems to be evened out for the NoCo and CenCo mountains Thursday through Saturday with another system pegged for Monday > Tuesday.
Well damn, where did Vail and BC's snow come from? Hopefully they'll get more tonight from the incoming storm.
Generally the more north of west the storm, the better Vail and BC do.
A BROAD Generalization follows (imho)
Steamboat does well in both a NW and SW flow and even a west flow because there are really no mountains to block the flow from any direction
Vail/Vail Pass/BC do well in west to northwest flow (although BC can do okay in a WSW flow)
Aspen area does well in WSW flow as does CB and the west elks (which also do very well in a SW flow)
San Juans do well in a SW flow with the exception of Telluride and the Uncompaghre Gorge, which do well in a NW flow (because they are on the N side of the range)
The Front Range does well with Easterly upslope flows, northerly flows and NW flows.
Looks like this upcoming storm should be niiiiize....what is the story for the weekend???
surprised by the totals at V and BC too, it snowed lightly all day but the mountains were socked in. Hoping for lots of snow, however we have a Grand Opening at work tomorrow night and my owner is in town, hope he can get back to Denver so I can have a "meeting" on Friday morning.
Snowing quite a bit at the top of Berthoud Pass this morning. Not dumping, but there was a consistent flow. Looked heavier over in the Jones Pass area.
I'll report that it was windy as fuck at Loveland today.... and pretty damn cold too. The snow was $$$ though.
A-Basin was windy and cold as well today. The snow was pretty damn soft though. Ski Patrol took volunteers to ski compress Palli Face, Spine and Main Street at around 1pm. 3 laps, fresh lines, thigh deep. Enough said. Should be open for good in the next few days.
Unless this latest storm is just late, its another bust.... they've really missed the forecasts this week.
Actually, they had a lot more forecasted everywhere before yesterday with winter storm watches/warnings in most mountain locations but I guess they changed it at the last minute. Oh well, hopefully they get something today and tonight.
Clever name change- did someone at your law office help you with that?
Associated cold front not as robust as first thought....moisture flowing in on SW flow still...finally started snowing in Eagle County, now waiting for the winds to shift.
It seems as though noaa, weather.com, snowforecast.com, are all across the board. Looks like we'll have snow today and tonight, and then again on friday. Is this what everyone else is seeing?
A friend in Crusty Butt just emailed to say complete whiteout.
Predicting whole mtn open by January.
It is hammering in Leadville right now. Snowing for the past 3-4 hours.
today was weird. Reports of massive dumpage in Glenwood, Dotsero, Gypsum. Just light snow up valley, but around 1 and then again at 3....the bottom fell out of the sky. Massive wind and HUGE snow...unreal to see. Heard the Beav just bout blew down. A little lull tonight.....then back on again Friday night and Saturday....oh yeah, GONNA GET COLD.
I'm headed to the Beav this morning. Not sure how good anything will be. 7 reported and it was crazy mad windy. We'll see
Beav was about 3" since the lifts closed, however Royal Elk was good, some really deep pockets. Hopefully this thing rolls in tonight and tomorrow....some more storm skiing would be nice.
Should be a good shot tonight into tomorrow with 6-12 expected. Another warning-type system Monday into Tuesday with more storms expected over the holiday weekend...
The beav was pretty damn good today. I found a lot of fresh, and no hiking :)
so today at Vail was, ummmmm....well.....in a word....WINDY! Son of a bitch, complete white out conditions. Couldn't see your hand in front of your face. China, Mongolia, BSB, all closed for the day. Oh and it was cold too.
Same at LL.... Telechuck said it was -40 at the top of Chair 1. Hopefully this next storm Mon-Tue will bring some more snow than the last few.
