So glad we came down last night.
Yo Yo!
Pulled the trigger and drove up after work last night. Got over into Victor a few hours before they closed the pass. Will be rolling solo at Ghee. Tall guy, blue and gold fly low jacket. Ask for change! Stoked!
Thanks HMS

Keep the roads closed and the snow coming down. The ghee should be epic today as long as the lifts spin, wind continues to howl at my place right now.

Looks like Dreamcatcher is on hold currently

Got in tram line at 8:15, easily made first box, then they announced an hour to hour 30 delay for the tram and 70% of the line walked. Fast forward an hour and they send out a notification that the entire mtn won’t open till 11. Feel bad for those that bounced. May only get a single lap at this point but it’ll be a good one.
Targhee tomorrow.

Does anyone know how JHMR validates Epic pass for Golden Ticket eligibility?
Don’t have one, asking for another in our party.

Solid day at the Ghee today. So nice that the roads were closed.
Colter was worth the wait. I never made it to DC. Props to patrol for getting things open.
I had to blow my driveway before and after skiing. First time I’ve had to do that this winter.
And today is why we live here. So. Damn. Good.
Damn good skiing today.
Enjoyable.

Pretty hollow snowpack & heads-up skiing for sure. Know your terrain.
SAR response on the pass.
Powder worth waiting for.
Seeking shelter from the storm.
Stay safe.

Good to see the snow making the rounds. I have a few days to ski at Jackson & maybe hit Targhee too. Last of January til maybe Feb. 3. It's been 18 years since my last visit and holing up at the "plywood palace". Time before that, Blizzard of Aaah's just came out and Benny rolled it in the basement of the Hostel. Numerous local legends amongst the crowd after a barbecued salmon feed outside that included a brew for 5$. Somehow, a few climbed a ladder of unknown origin in the wee hours and distributed tracks down a local roof. Then there's the worm-hole but don't get me going on that. See you kOOks soon. Been too long .... save a line for me!
^^^^
Gonna be a few mags in town about that timeframe. Maybe a shindig is in order.
Not sure if that roofline is viable anymore. I'll check.
Benny's around. Yakked at him a few days ago.
Low temps for last 12 hours:
JHMR summit: -19 / -49 wind chill @ 0730.
GT summit: -20 / -41 wc @ 0415.
Stateline it was, per TCISAR facebook post
The TCISAR team has come such a long ways since I moved here. Props to those folks for getting everyone home on a cold, dangerous night.Quote:
Yesterday afternoon TCISAR received notification of an individual injured in an avalanche above State Line Canyon in the Tetons. He remained on the surface likely due to his air bag deployment, but sustained significant trauma from hitting trees. Twenty team members responded and were aided by skiers in the area. The male skier was packaged and transported to the trailhead at Hwy 33 and was handed off to Teton County Fire and Rescue for transport to Driggs.
